This was an amazingly dissppointing experience. The food was not good and the wine was nasty and the service was very very poor.
We enjoyed a very nice lunch in La Fortezza, last month. The staff was extremely kind, courteous, and helpful. All of our dishes were very good and very good examples of local Umbrian cuisine. The service was very attentive and the dishes were even brought out covered to maintain the heat. We actually had limited time, so I spoke with... More
Very classy service and wonderful dishes, some not found in your run-of-the-mill tourist trap let alone tourist destination. For instance, the wild boar stew was Devine. Prices are fair and below average for a city based mostly on tourism. I would heartily recommend for a memorable meal!!
Highly recommend the fresh food. Only barrier to a perfect evening was the language barrier which prevented complete engagement with the very polite, skilled and patient staff! They threw in a free limoncello for the 2 of us! Don't be put off by the unmanned entrance, just keep walking through to be welcomed in the main room!
We recently visited La Fortezza to end an evening trip to Assisi. The town is a lovely place to visit, but we chose to go there after 5pm - most of the tourists had gone by then, and the town was quiet and a wonderful place to watch the sunset. We chose La Fortezza as it was recommended in one... More
We have eaten absolutely delicious meals in very nice atmosphere and restaurant with perfect service. Great restaurant.
Our group of eight made its way through the La Fortezza hotel to what was initially a private dining room because of our early arrival for lunch. We tried probably 20 different items on the menu, considering the three courses and tiramisu for dessert. And the local wines were a special treat, since we had just visited a winery in... More
A tourist guide mentioned "La Fortezza" as one of Assisi's best restaurants; my wife's Italy book mentioned it; I think even Rick Steves brought it up; and when our cab driver was pulling into the lower gate of Assisi (which is a few miles away from the train station, on a steep little mountain) I asked him for a personal... We choose to have a lunch at La Fortezza due of Tripadvisor references and after read the menu. The restaurant is really nice, nearby the Assisi´s City Hall Square with excellent typical food with a modern touch. The wine list is good for the Umbria wines. Best of all the service WONDERFUL!!!! We travel with our 3 months old daughter... More
