On our first night in Siena we decided to dine "local" so basically went around the corner and up the steps to this nice restaurant. Once inside, we were taken by the the decor, simple, elegant and artistic. The waiter was very helpful with the menu and for our secondi my friend decided to have spinach/ricotta ravioli with a blue...

A bit hidden from the main street and modern decor but the dishes were tasty. Pici were really good and I loved my dessert, chocolate souffle with pears. Relaxed atmosphere and cordial service, looked like it was recently renovated.
Ate lunch here today just before leaving Siena to fly home. The meal was so good that we did not eat any more today! The stewed beef was super, though very rich. The polenta mushroom starter was very nice. service good, surroundings very pleasant and a good atmosphere. I recommend this place
Food was excellent; we went back again a few nights later to try other menu items. Probably the best food I had in Siena, and at a very reasonable price. They also had good wines by the glass.
Atmosphere was pleasant, and the building interior has been elegantly remodelled (recently, I suspect).
The service was friendly and helpful.

After waiting a bit to order our food came pretty quickly. All dishes were very tasty and prices are favourable too.

However, both my risotto con frutti di mare and my companion's spaghetti pici were REALLY SALTY. I'm not talking a little overseasoned but so badly that neither of us finished...

My husband and 2 daughters had a fantastic meal with very attentive service at Osteria Castelvecchio. The primi were delicious, and the contorni were fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat! Also, the prices were fantastic....pastas ranged from 6 to 10 euros, and the secondi maxed out at 18(except for the fiorentina, of course!). I also loved the dining...

We ate here on the evening before the Palio in July, so the locals were all at their street parties and the restaurant was fairly quiet apart from another two tourist couples. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, but the food certainly made up for it! Portions were generous (not a place to eat antipasti, primi and secondi unless you...
