We stumbled upon this restaurant after wanting to get off the beaten track a bit and get out of the main square (beautiful as it is)... what a lovely find.
Small and intimate - great food - we had the bistecca fiorentina - wow it was huge but we shared it and it was delicious! Pasta was great too as...

I visited Osteria La Piana whilst in Siena on holiday, with my partner, his parents and my mum. We loved this restaurant, the pasta was gorgeous, Bruschetta fresh and steak amazing. The deserts did not disappoint either, all washed down with a glass of the house white (only around €10 a litre).
The atmosphere was welcoming and it appeared to...

A nice surpice were you would not expect!! Just inside the old wall in Siena, in Porta Camollia, you will find this really small trattoria/osteria were you can taste nice typical truscan food like the famous Fiorentina or the tagliata or some lovely pasta. Dont expect to find a big menu but if you are after basic but good tuscan...

Very traditional and small "Osteria" in the center of Siena. No last-fashion options will tempt you on the menu: very traditional, very typical... very good!
Enjoy the "salumi-mix": crude ham and the traditional "salami-like" (well, I would say "salami-better", but actually it depends on you !) finocchiona and other local alternatives.
Price is quite good for the area; service is...

The restaurant is supersmall, 30 seating places tops: make sure to book in advance. And stay prepared to wait for some time more. It's that good, customers won't leave after the meal...
at least the mgmt will get you a free glass of prosecco wine to drink away the wait.
The menu is focused on the Tuscan dishes, classics of...

This restaurant pretty much lived up to the expectations of being rated #11 in Siena. It was well placed in Siena, although not what I would call in the centre of the town, and I can see parking for some people being an issue.
If you go to this restaurant you have to reserve a table - the relatively small...

We dined at this place for dinner in early October 2012. The place was busy but didn't get really busy until 900. Unless you are eating early reservations are recommended. The pasta dishes were outstanding, as were the rabbit and Osso Bucco. Overall a good experience and great value.
We had 2 lovely meals here. We were staying the opposite side of the city & stumbled across it. The food is quite simply great & honestly priced! Search it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Our first night in Siena had the hotel staff recommend La Piana for us and a great recommendation! A 10-minute walk from the hotel through city gates, the main piazza and down charming avenue to the restaurant. Menu was HUGE, though wine selection was a little light. The meats on the menu were very impressive (many large beef cuts on...
