We stayed at the Metropole hotel and took advantage of this wonderful restaurant. As a non-hotel guest you can get the gift of the hotel and one of the best meals in Venice here at the Met.
We took a gastro tour across northern Italy this November. We dined at Michelin starred restaurants in Milan and Piedmont and had low expectations for Venice. After several mediocre meals at highly rated "traditional" restaurants, we spent our last night at the Met Restaurant. We did the old vs new tasting. The service was so personal and genuine (Fernando and... More
We had a memorable mushroom risotto starter and outstanding fish dish, sea bass cooked "aqua pazza" in a delicious tomato broth. We had eaten the fish dish the previous year and had to come back to eat it again. We were not disappointed.
My wife & I had made reservations to stay at the Metropole & had not yet committed to dinner reservations. An email from the hotel a few weeks before arriving in Venice let us know of a special dinner at the Met celebrating the autumn palate on our final evening in Venice.. Couldn't resist. Offered was a 5-course dinner with... More
The food was excellent as was the service but the interior really isn't my style - it reminded me of visiting my very old grandmother (stylewise). It's a pity that it doesn't make use of its location on the water. And it is definitely expensive, as eating out in Venice is.
We (two couples) dined at the Met on Aug 15. I rate it low on ambiance as the room was mostly empty before and after we started at 7:45 pm. Service was excellent and attentive. Food quality was excellent. Our starters included pasta and caprese salad. The Merlot recommended by the waiter was expensive (70 euros) but very good. We... More
Of course, I do not mean nationality of the restaurant , but cuisine tradition. We booked it for my birthday celebration and, honestly, expected some new&tasty gastronomic experience. But it was not. We ordered a degustation menu (modern for myself and classic for my husband). Some of dishes were just good. Service was ok. But we had very good vine's... More
I booked this restaurant via email for my husband's birthday. We dined at Met on 15 June 2013. Having seen plenty of examples of Italian food and Italian service, I must say that good food is easier to find than good service in Italy and the combination of both is, unfortunately, rather rare. At Met you definitely get both, excellent... More
We visited the Met restaurant hoping for a really smart fantastic meal but were very disappointed. We had a good cocktail in the bar but then things went down hill. The service was very slow and I had to complain that even after half an hour in the restaurant we had not had our order taken. The waiters just replied... More
We decided to visit here after seeing it recommended on simonseeks as a place to splash out, and also because we were on honeymoon after getting married in Hotel Metropole in Leeds so felt we had to visit it's namesake in Venice. We were a little worried about this place being 'too posh for us' or pretentious, especially after visiting... More
