Fantastic selection of pizza, foccaccia, etc. Select at the counter, wait while they heat it, then eat on the street or sit in upstairs. Good, friendly and fast.
Great place for a quick lunch just off the main square in the Old City of Bergamo. Pizza and sandwiches at a fair price
We've bought from Il Fornaio twice, once early in the morning for breakfast. There's a big selection of pizzas with the thick and fluffy type of crust (not the thin Neopolitan type). There's also lots of goodies - traditional pastry. The downside - for breakfast you cannot eat upstairs. You can sit on stools staring at the wall but for... More
It's in fact a fast food place but the pizzas there (or, rather focaccias with toppings) taste absolutely amazing! The fact that you can see what you are choosing and choose between dozens of various pizzas is a nice visual-gastronomic experience by itself. And the bread (there is a great variety of it) is almost better than the pizzas
We where in the old city visiting and happen to see this place. I tried the pizza which is very good, but what is just hard to top are its different breads: olive, rasins, nuts and chocolate. Even if you are going to have lunch shortly after, don't miss this! We even took some pieces to take back to the... More
We bought a selection of cakes and biscuits, going by the hype and prices I thought we were going to have a real treat but I was disappointed. To be honest I thought my pastry tasted like it was baked the day before. We planned on returning for pizza the next day but felt it was a case of "once... More
I was taken here by a Bergamo local. I found it very hard to cope with how busy it was. You pick a pizza, the person behind the counter cuts it off for you, and gives you the receipt. The price is worked out by weight. You then take your receipt and pay at the till on the other side... More
I liked this pizza very much, but it wasn't too fresh (I mean pizza, not ingredients) so it wasn't too crispy, that's the minus. But, pizza was very tasty, colourful and smooth, with high quality ingredients. Service was friendly, but there was one strange thing about it, they are cutting pizza with normal scissors.
I absolutely love pizza and have eaten it on two continents, in several countries, and five different Italian cities and this was some of the worst pizza I've ever tasted. I was shocked at how bad it was. It was soggy, greasy, and worst of all it was cold even after it was warmed up in the oven again. It... More
place looks simple - but always full of visitors - these are not tourists but mostly residents of Bergamo - there probably ate the best pizza in Italy - you can take your food to take away and the floor is a dozen tables and a photo gallery documenting History of Owners
