I was last here 22 years ago. Very little has changed in the atmosphere and formality of the restaurant. The service is superb. This is really a dining experience. The prices are high but the portions are also substantial. The dishes, at least what we ordered, were not as inventive or tasty as other similarly priced and rated restaurants we... More

The food was very good, but the wait staff were not friendly, and the experience was way too traditional and formal for me. Very expensive. When we told them that we don't eat meat or poultry, they appropriately took away the amuses bouches, but didn't bring us substitutes. Food was well prepared but not exciting. Very old school. I mused... More

We chose Zalacain as our one upscale restaurant experience during a week-long vacation in Spain and were very disappointed. I had warned the restaurant that one member of our party was a vegetarian and this information seems to have been lost. We were served amuse-bouches containing ham, and even the vegetable stew on the menu (pretty much the sole vegetarian... More

Jacket and tie required for men, rich dark colors, classical décor and settings, yet the formal but friendly staff welcome and put at ease any guest on their special night. Pricey but at about $180 euro for two, without drinks, not as unreachable as some of the reviews might suggest. Classic Spanish cuisine, perfectly enhanced and presented as artwork. True... More

We loved the food. My husband was very happy with the wine list. The somelier suggested some great wines for me that I only like rieslings and they are non existent in Spain!. The food was delicious, except for the beef tartar, which is grounded beef marinated with various oils. I personally did not like it, but everything else and... More

Visited this restaurant in july, so not maybe the best season to truck in à very hearthy traditional dish, but what à nice surprise! Little typical décorated tasca not far from plaza mayor. The waiters were attentive and did explain to us the local way of eating thé cocido. They have other dishes on the menu that i will definitively... More

We have eaten at this restaurant several times over the years. They still have the same sommelier who will guide you through their huge wine list. The food, however, is the star. Impeccably served and beautifully prepared.
