Description: Botn is the oldest restaurant in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records. Located in the heart of Madrid, at the foot of the Arco de Cuchilleros and next to the Plaza Mayor, it was founded in 1725 and was a meeting place for Madrid's bohemian and literary set. Botn offers Madrid-style hospitality in a convivial and friendly setting, with traditional decor. The restaurant prides itself on using the finest ingredients accredited by the respective quality marks in order to offer guests traditional recipes that have been passed down from father to son over the years, cooked in a natural and artisan way. Its specialities include roast suckling pig and lamb cooked in traditional Castilian style in a wood-fired oven that has been in use since 1725. Botn treats all its diners the same - whether politician, famous artist or its neighbourhood regulars.

Went out of our way to go to this little place in name of the suckling pig, as most do. It was ok, just ok. The only reason it got 3/5 is as the kind waiters gave my husband a collared shirt to wear as his sleeveless shirt was deemed inappropriate (fair enough, it was much more formal than we... More

This is not just the oldest restaurant in the world - it's also a place which will give you good food and great experience. A platter of iberico ham, a couple of bread rolls, a cut of their famous Cuchinillo, the perfectly grilled steak-fillet mignon and a half pitcher of sangria....these are all must-have, which will cost a couple approximately... It's a nice experience to have lunch in the world's oldest restaurant. The place is nice, the food is honest (try the cuchinillo), but a little expensive. The staff is very polite, need reservation, because it's always crowded.

Very hyped. Mostly due to TA reviews. We were 4 and ordered the suckling pig, roast lamb and the steak. Both the pig and lamb came just with potatoes. Both hardly had meat and mostly it was the bones. The steak was with a watery mushroom broth which was slightly weird. However the steak was very juicy and lovely pink.... More

My wife and I went here on our last night in Madrid to try and leave on a high note. Not the case. We ate in the cellar which was the one and only cool thing about the dinner. Due to the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor we were a little unsure but figured it had to be great if... More

This restaurant is my favorite place to dine at in the world and I have travelled alot. The atmosphere is lovely and the food speaks for itself and the price is also rather reasonable. I would recommend the Botin salad and the filet mignon followed by the cream caramel.

We made a visit to the Restaurant Botin and although it was an enjoyable experience I felt that the service was rushed and they were keen to clear the table to get the next guests in. The food was good but not spectacular and the same would go for the service. An interesting experience and the house wine was good... More

We went to Restaurante Botin looking forward to the experience of dining in the 'World's Oldest Restaurant' but without high expectations for the food (as we'd been told and read on reviews that it wasn't great)....wow, were we wrong! We booked for the 8:30pm time slot and were lucky enough to be sat in the downstairs cellar (which we requested... More

This restaurant has been in business since 1725. It carries a lot of Madrid history. It is located just off Plaza Mayor. The specialties are the "suckling pig and roasted lamb" they are roast in the same original stone oven from 1725. A must if you visit Madrid.

We made a reservation at Botin way in advance so we were able to eat in the cellar. The atmosphere was terrific and all the food was great. As in most Spanish restaurants we overordered. We ordered the salmon appetizer which was a huge plate of smoked salmon that was too die for. Unfortunately it was way too much for... More
