My husband and I had lunch and went for the Menu of the Day which was 18.50 Euros. Perhaps a little expensive but the menu was interesting and varied. The food was just delicious. My hake in garlic sauce was fab. The staff was helpful and cheerful. The restaurant was mainly full of non tourists - always a good sign.... More

Despite this restaurant has all that we usually do not follow, large cues of people waiting for a table, as there are no reservations for the terrace, and located in the "heart" of the tourist area of the city - the old harbour, we decided to follow a friend's recommendation and waited about 45 minutes till we got a table.... This is an excellent restaurant, the food is great and so is the service. Gets very busy after 8.30-9pm in the high season. You will have to queue. Worth it. Staff very helpful and nice. Free parking at the end of the harbour - 100 metres from restaurant.

We were recommended this restaurant by one of our hotel's staff. It is known for its fish but on both nights we had an excellant steak. Starters of squid, whitebait and carpaccio of swordfish were also really good. The waiting staff are informative and helped us choose a fantastic bottle of Rioja. Would eat here again if I returned to... More

I've been there twice, but the problem with this place is that both of the times we got stuffed with the appetizers (the dishes "para picar"), so I've no idea about the main courses! Anyway talking about the appetizers, they are excellent, abundant and of a great variety (in fact, being fishing with their own boat, not all the food... More

Throughout Ciutadella, as we wandered about, we saw on many menu boards the local speciality...lobster stew. Our Lonely Planet had recommended this cafe, so we combined the famous caldereta and the cafe. The big bowl arrived steaming. The wait staff ladled portions into our individual bowls. Then...the first sip. Nothing. Bland. What a disappointment! Is this the usual flavour? For... More

We ate here three or four nights ago, it's right on the harbour and with the sun going down and the lights coming on its quite atmospheric. If you are eating outside, there is nothing between the tables and the water so be careful! Obviously seafood dominates which has implications for cost. The cheapest option is the menu del dia... I was pleased to find Cafe Balear was as good and as popular as ever, it has been 5 years since my last visit to ciutadella. The queues of locals outside at night prove how popular this place is.Go before 8pm to ensure a seat by the harbour. We eat both Tapas and 3 course meals here during our hoiday... More

overrated restaurant, poor and expensive food. The quality isn't good, mussels were not fresh and the price is way too high for the amount served. Only desserts are worthwhile.
