Rutz has an outstanding wine list and a friendly and knowledgable staff. Service is very attentive and the decor is great! I've come here on multiple trips now and I will be back again!

We ate at the downstairs Winebar section of the restaurant where you can order items a la carte...not the set menu at the upstairs portion of the restaurant. Was impressed with the service and the quality of the food...German influenced but modern/innovativen with nice presentation. I tried things I normally would not eat at home, like black (blood) pudding, blood... More

I ate here with two girlfriends on recommendation from an Eyewitness Travel guide and am so glad that we did! We got a bottle of champagne and a bottle of red wine that were both delicious , the cheese plate for an appetizer (I know that's such an American thing to do - it was on the dessert menu) and... Friendly and knowledgeable service. Lots of wines by the glass. Tasty, imaginative cuisine. I went alone and was sat beside a couple, who turned out to be English yet had spent a lot of time in my hometown - Toronto ..... klein welt

Wonderful food perfectly conceived and executed. The 8 course tasting menu is divine. Knowledgeable staff, especially concerning wine, whether you go for their partnering wines or not. It's far from cheap, but considering the quality, it is excellent value.

I had a group dinner here with work colleagues - about 16 people. They accommodated us with 1 days notice and set up a long table in the bar area. The service was friendly, attentive, cheeky, fun and we got an explanation of the wine chosen for each course of food. The food itself was delicious and lots of it... More

Dining at Rutz (not at the wine bar) is worth the experience (and experiment) if you can afford it. It was a surprise from my other half as a birthday treat for me. Very nice ambiance with the low light setting and style. We've ordered the 8 courses menu each. Even before starting the actual courses, we had two pre-starters/amuses... More

Food was good, not remarkable, decent, certainly not amazing. Food arrived within minutes of ordering - we hadn't even ordered wine before it hit the table. Very strange experience with waiter who kept heavily pushing a particular wine, but when we asked him to clarify the wine price, he just walked away. The table next to ours was having a... More

Found this winebar by chance. Extremely deep German wine list with good selection of Austrian as well. Practically all selections have multiple vintages enabling comparison. The sommelier Billy seems to truly enjoy sharing his knowledge about the wines as well as making thoughtful recommendations. All the staff are fluent in English as well. While the list is setup for bottles... More

I visited Berlin with a friend and visited this restaurant again. As before, I ordered the surprise menu with the wine flight and it was great. The service is thorough, personable and relaxed and the bar downstairs in lively and comfortable. I can't wait to go back.....again.
