Yummy and chunky german dishes, generous portions and very nice desserts. Large wooden tables add cosiness to this big popular local restaurant. Highly recommended.
Travelers! The Dicke Sophie is located close to the S8 station Johanneskirchen which makes it a perfect place to stop-over while you are heading from/to the airport. The place is very much in the beers and the traditional Bavarian food with lots of meat and sausages and all that. Besides that I always liked to bring my guests from abroad... More
We had a wonderfull evening. The waitress was outstanding paciently with us. Best of all was the dessert: 'Kaiserschmarr'n' which was freshly made and one of the best ever.... (we are from Bavaria and know this specialty well). Attention: the portion is a full meal and as a dessert should be shared. We do not have anything to complain. It... More
Ate on a warm summer evening outside in the beer garden. The place was heaving on a Tuesday night, which is a good sign. Located in the suburbs right next to the S8 Station Johanneskirchen this place is perfect for NOT driving. Beer fresh and cold, food traditional Bavarian / European fare, not outstanding but great value and with some... More

Our server spoke wonderful English, found pictures for our kids to color while they waited, and was very pleasant and attentive (you don't find that every day in Europe!) The food was amazing. It was our first real Bavarian meal and... More
Honestly I was hungry and dropped by when I've read the nice reviews here. On March 5th '13 the restaurant was approx. 1/4 full at 4:45 PM, and I have waited approx. 15 min without being served and ignored 5 times by the service staff. I left hungy, frustrated and annoyed the restaurant after 5 PM. NEVER again...
I was taken here by locals who highly recommended it. I was told to get the schnitzel and Keller beer. I was not disappointed, both were excellent. The restaurant is very close to the johanneskirchen sbahn station making it very convenient from the airport.
Arrived here on our first evening in Munich (a Sunday) as it was the nearest place to eat and we'd got no food in the house. Cheerful and friendly waitress immediately recognised we were English and a little dazed with the journey here; found us a quiet table; went to great length to describe all the beers in our own...
