Where to begin? The host was very welcoming and friendly. He spoke perfect English and explained anything on the menu we didn't understand. He also recommended a beautiful wine to accompany our meal. We sat outside due to the lovely weather. We went for the €27.50 set menu which proved to be ex value. We both had starters involving foie... More

We were charmed completely on our first visit to La Preference. The owner is not only warm and gracious, he is sincerely interested in making your dining experience a memorable one. And La Preference does not disappoint. You will enjoy fresh new takes on classic fare as well as well- executed traditional French dishes. The foie gras was excellent as... More

a novel presentation of French food - enjoyable nonetheless. I had snails in a creamy blue cheese sauce and a main course of scallops. Had it been in Polynesia I would class as average plus

We stayed in the Hotel Capitouls just around the corner from this lovely little restaurant. We started our meals with the most wonderful starters which included a stack of foie gras and poached pear- heaven! The main course of fillet de bar in coconut milk was a delight, as was the chef's own dessert, a sort of French bake well... More

Staying near the Toulouse Matabiau station, we found this cosy and unpretentious restaurant an excellent choice. The entertaining proprietor took delight in explaining in English the various courses on offer and his red wine recommendation was spot on. The three courses were well presented and good value at 25 euros plus drinks. We would certainly return.

We stayed in the Hôtel St Claire across the road and chose this restaurant based on other trip advisor reviews and its close proximity to the hotel. They have a great value set menu which included some lovely seafood including smoked Salmon and juicy prawns. Both the duck and smoked Salmon starter were really delicious and portions were plentiful. We... More

Lovely little hole in the wall on a quiet side street. Host is warm and gracious, and is free with recommendations on what to eat if you're willing to follow his lead- which we did. Had some of the best prepared Dourade (sea bream) I've ever tasted. My wife had an equally well prepared confit du canard. The appetizers were... More

The food was good, not great, so I was a bit disappointed given what's been written. The service, on the other hand, was excellent and lived up to the reviews. The decor definitely plays to the kitschy romantic crowd with heart shaped menus and themes. The owner is lovely and very nice. A word for those who travel solo, you... More
