It was its neighbour, L'Absinthe, that I was heading for, but I did not get a table there on short notice. No trouble at all getting a table at L'Ecluse. It was a nice, unpretentious place that looked somewhere between a "bierstube" and a simple restaurant (which is quite okay). The wine list was strong in bordeaux, and I had... More

We chose this restaurant on the site of the old marche St Honore , because, late as it was, it was still well attended. The service was good, the meat excellent with interesting vegetables, and the wine list extensive and well chosen. Did NOt suffer from any stomach burns in the night= a good sign of the quality of the... More

Ikouma has it right. It's a wine bar with food, not an eatery with wine. Clientele tourists not local. Helpful staff and good fresh food. Carpaccio and cheese strongly recommended. PS Pot au Feu was plat du jour and excellent

Please, go to this place, please, please. Read this: I was in Paris during a cold but sunny week in January 2012 and after a big breakfast at the hotel I stayed at I left to walk over to the Orsay Museum. Only on the way, I discovered I needed a bathroom stop. I walked into this place for no... More

The decor is generic and a little naff, the uniform of the staff dated but there is a reason why this place is always packed. The meat and cheese products are all always excellent and very fresh, all sourced from the best French farms. The wines are expensive but there is a long and varied wine list and it is... More

Stopped for a glass of wine... & stayed all night! Some fantastic & interesting wine, all at great prices, with fantastic staff... & we had a wonderful cheese platter to keep the wine alive! Best place we went to in Paris

We arrived for a late dinner and really didn't want to have think too much about it. We asked the server for a recommendation from the Bordeaux only wine list that would match our tastes. We are generally more Burgundy wine drinkers, so the recommendation kept that in mind. The wine choice was perfect. The appetizer of sliced cucumbers and... More

There are several L'ecluse wine bars in Paris. I like the one near the Madeliene the best. The wine selection is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. The light bites are also a great pairing.

The wine selection is vast and the wine serving is very professional. the food was ok, we shared a starter if foie GRAS and were shocked it was literally a slab of foie GRAS on a plate? I guess simple but compared to other places a but too basic with nothing to compliment it. I had steak which Was fine... More

After hours wondering where to eat for my other half - finally found this near Madeleine - she's vege and very few places cater for her! Nevertheless we enjoyed a great meal - she had a vege risotto - excellent and well cooked. I had a wonderful steak - one of the best I've eaten. We shared very good cheese,... More
