After reading all the great comments on here we decided to treat a relative to her 83rd birthday lunch out here ... We hadn't booked because they don't accept bookings of less than 8 which was fine, so there was only room in the lounge/bar area, which was very cramped and staff were constantly counting heads etc. As the turnaround... I had cream tea with friends on a weekend afternoon. Service was pretty good, the waiter explained he'd written our order wrong and was very apologetic, we only waited a few minutes extra. The prices are pretty high but the food was lovely although I had expected all the cakes to be homemade and more than half were not as... More

My partner took me here for my birthday, he rang up before hand to book and was told he couldn't. For a start I HATE when places don't allow you to book because you are less than a party of four, because walking into this place they clearly mainly carter to groups of two so why not take a booking?... The tea rooms are easy to find, being situated in the Gay Village area of town. However its location has a slight back street feel to it on first impression. Visited at approx 12.30 on a Saturday and endured a short wait for a table. We were asked to wait in the rear room/bar area. This room does not have... More

Finished off our day in Manchester with tea and cake here. Would recommend not just the food, but the decor and the whole atmosphere was perfect. Well worth a visit.

The Richmond Tea that we ordered comprised of a very good selection of tasty finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Please be warned, go on an empty stomach as there is a lot to get through. However if you cannot finish the cakes, they will box the remaining cakes for you to take away. You cannot reserve tables, so get there... More

Went here last week with my friend for my Birthday. Flipping heck- Absolutely epic. Was told there was a wait but we were able to go grab a drink and sit on the sofas. We both went for Queens tea. Eeeek, It was incred. You have to give this place a try. Really funky decor and amazing scones and sandwich... More

My friend and I visited the tea rooms as a special occasion. A nicely decorated, quirky venue, that was let down by the unfriendly and un-accomodating staff. Having spent three days calling to try and reserve a table with no answer, we just went along. When I asked what the vegetarian sandwiches were, I felt as though I had asked... More

Tucked away in a shabby back street you do wonder what this place will be like. Well you are in for a treat. The service and food were excellent, you do get large portions so be careful not to order too much. No doubt the decor would not be to everyone's taste but we thought it was very different which...
