always good service and excellent food. dont be put off by the old fashioned decor- what they save on decorating they spend on the food ! lol! have looked into the kitchens and can quite happily say they are clean ! never had a bad meal from here.....a real favourite !

I "discovered" Raj Shahi over 20 years ago. I have used them for takeaways ever since. The food is always well flavoured and the portions are generous. Good value too!

The Shahi is being keen to guarantee its 2 huge pluses. Taste and Value for Money. It cannot be beaten on those 2 simple markers. It's not the Ritz. It is the most likeable basic Northern town Indian around with hidden delights on their menu.

i am a big curry lover and very fussy, me and my wife go here quite often. sometimes once a week. they also offer take away. Doesnt look much from outside but the food is lovely and fresh.

If you don't recognise the abilities of your chef and continue to run the restaurant like a grubby back street dive then people will wish they had not made a detour to eat here. After reading some of the recent reviews I think expectations are too high for this place. Come on, one look at it from the outside would tell you there is no need to book or the chances of getting a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are slim. I recently had a takeaway from raj shahi, i ordered a chicken madras. It tasted like theyd seen i was a girl and watered it down for me. No taste no spice no chicken madras. Dissapointed as we used to come alot.
