Albeit a little off the beaten track, this restaurant has been around since Jesus was a baby and dya know what, it still delivers. Went for the Early Bird one Saturday recently with friends and it was great value. Good varied choice on the menu however the wine is a little on the pricey side. I had a chicken dish... More

A friend who lives in Dublin booked this for us to meet up while we visited the city. The early bird menu was a really good deal, three courses for quite a bit less than 30 euros each I think. The place itself is really nice, we were sitting at a booth type table which was perfect for a good... More

Booked a table for 5 many weeks in advance, and when we arrived we were squeezed into a booth fit for 4 people. When I complained, I was told there was nothing the management could do about it. The retuarant was so packed it resulted in exceptionally slow service; got our mains 1.5 hours after we sat down. This looked... More

We went to Dobbins on Sunday for a special family lunch. Our party of 7 ranged in age from 10 to 70. The table was very comfortable, with plenty of space. The restaurant was buzzing, it seemed completely full. But the staff were excellent and very patient. The menu is huge, with plenty of choice and it suited all our... More

Wont go into all the details but found this place had more negatives than positives. Our service seemed rushed, no sooner had we ordered than our starter was in front of us and no sooner had it been removed than our main course was there. Our wine glasses were only half way finished when being topped up and even the... More

We went here last night.. I booked the Early Bird, which was great value, 27.50 for 3 courses plus coffee up until 7pm on Saturdays. The person that took my reservation was very professional, as were all the staff from the Hostess to the waiters and waitresses. My Husband had the Spring Roll of Confit of Duck which he didn't... This old established restaurant has not changed the menu for many years and is still good despite the fact that they still serve the smokies followed by duck for as long as I can remember and that dates back to the original John O'Byrne Restaurant. I still think its worth a visit and is still a lunchtime institution. The food... More
