Went in pouring rain anxious to get a taste of Scotland on first night in the Highlands! Was not disappointed. The restaurant has a relaxed feel to it, is very busy and bustling, has a good menu and most importantly tasty food .My husband had scallops to start and says they are the best he's ever had! We panicked and... More

The Crannog is well worth a visit the Food is wonderful, the service is exceptional and the views are stunning. There is always something for those who do not eat seafood. There is a two course meal deal for about £12 with four choices which is great value.

We requested a loch- view table and were given it ( but we had reserved well ahead). Diners turning up on chance were turned away as it was full ( on a Tuesday night in early May) Stunning views. Not a huge menu, but was supplemented by some delicious 'specials'. Fresh fish and shellfish were lovely and satisfying. Good portion... More

The Crannog is located at the end of the town pier and has an unrivalled view of the sea and the Fort William harbour. Food was splendid. More importantly, the service was excellent. Our server was incredibly well-informed regarding the wines and was articulate into the bargain. We had a great seafood meal and would go there again in a... More

We had three meals here recently. Innovative chef. For example, turbot served with a slice of pork belly sounds odd, but worked extremely well, the two flavours bring out the best of each.. Smoked haddock soufflé with a wonderful sauce was a delicious starter. The sole was beautifully prepared. But the real stars are the charming staff, who work very hard... More

It may well be the best restaurant in Fort William but be warned none of the restaurants here are great. For our starters - not convinced clams and cauliflower purée compliment each other ! For mains - lovely sole wrapped round tough asparagus and sitting on lumpy dry mash. Hollandaise sauce was ok though. For puds one cranachan which was... More

This is the only place to go on Fort William if you want a decent fish or seafood meal. The setting is perfect on the side of the Loch but you will need to make a reservation if you want a table in the windows. Most of the reviews here rate the establishment as excellent but although close I do... More

we had lunch at this restaurant and, although choice of seafood in their menu is rather limited, it was very well cooked and tasted fantastic. our bill was £62 for 4 people (we had lunch special), which I consider a bargain for prime lakeside location. Recommended.

We've been visiting The Crannog for a few years on and off now and have always had fantastic food and service. The team are friendly and if you book in advance will try to get you a window seat with stunning views when possible. The lunchtime menu special is always brilliant value for such great food. Evenings have amazing seafood... More
