Innovative, fresh and well-presented food, along with Denis' personal touches and hilarious commentary. An excellent value and a great experience.

We found this restaurant thanks to tripadvisor. Small restaurant but great atmosphere. The food was of great quality and the cook and service was excellent. Cook came to the table to ask if everything is ok. If you are in Edinburgh do a search for this restaurant and you will have a great evening.

Had a superb meal here tonight, the food was really good, we both had three courses which we can't fault. Really good value and would recommend and be back soon hopefully.
This a real restaurant, not a tourist trap. Quiet and peaceful on a saturday night, yet full and lively, it offers a nice atmosphere. The warm and welcoming owners and staff provide their guests with very nice food and they accomodate every kind of allergy. Everybody is really really really nice to people and especially to children.

Cafe Cassis is, since opening, consistently great. Fabulous cooking from Chef/owner and great service from his front of house lovely wife.
French cuisine at affordable prices. Snails and cassoulet along with other delights. As they are open all day snacks/coffee/cakes can be had also. Basically anything you could wish for is here. A bonus is the lovely garden (weather permitting,...

So my husband and I stayed at The Salisbury Hotel last month when we were visiting Edinburgh for the week-end. This is how we know of Cafe Cassis - the hotel has its breakfast there in the mornings, though the Cafe is independently owned and open for lunches and dinners.
We came back on a Friday evening wanting a night...

Not quite 5 stars yet, but pushing hard. Why not? Lots of interesting food choices, many with a French flavour, but just lacks the subtlety of a Michelin experience. Only just though, and the big difference here is that you get absolutely astonishingly good value for money - generous hearty portions, lots of flavours, lost of colour, lots to talk...

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is delightful and the service top notch. Nothing is too much trouble including party planning. Very classy decor and warm. No outdoor seating I think but it was raining the night we were there. All the guests were real foodies so this rating is not given lightly!
Neighbourhood restaurant. Intimate, modern environment with welcoming, pleasant and efficient service staff. Very good value weekday lunch table d'hote menu.Cooking conveys subtle depth of flavour and this, together with variety of traditional and contemporary dishes on menu, suggests experience, skill and flair. A gem on the south side.
