I and some friends visited the Bar Italia in Lothian Road in April. The main course two of us chose was the Lamb Shanks slowly cooked in red wine, I can honestly say I've never tasted such lovely lamb,and I would certainly go back for the same meal again. Worth a trip to Edinburgh just for this.

We got here on a busy Saturday night with no reservation and were found a table no problem. It was busy and a bit of a tight squeeze, but i think this added to the nice atmosphere. Great place with very friendly atmosphere and high quality cuisine. Pizza and ice-cream both award winners. An absolute must: try the experimental ice-cream flavours created by owner Fabio.

Great food. Wide choice. Excellent wines. Brilliant service. Bright, bustling, cheerful atmosphere. Delightful staff. A place to lift the spirits. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
