My husband and I went to The Sooty Olive on Friday night to try out the new menu, to say everything was top class just would not do it justice.... it was just exceptional, the decor is calm and relaxed, the staff are friendly and attentive without being pushy.. the bottle of merlot we ordered was so delicious and as... what a change different name, new paint job, all day menu, and a cheaper price. found the service slow and too relaxed. The food has had a large turn around, weaker watery sauces shows a less skilled kitchen. I think this restaurant should start their rating with trip all over as they are newly refreshed and serving something unrelated to... More

After a rubbish lunch and lots of walking around Derry we looked to trip adviser for a good restaurant for dinner, and sooty olives did not disappoint!! Staff friendly and efficient, decor lovely, and food amazing! Would highly recommend!

We had a lovely evening in the Sooty Olive on a Saturday night. Our first visit to this very recently re-named restaurant. Despite our quite late evening booking we were welcomed into a most relaxed environment. We had a drink and then were seated at our table. On being presented with the menu, I was cautious as it seems to... More

We had a fabulous meal at the newly named Sooty Olive, we have visited this restaurant several times. This was one of the best meals we have ever had! The quality of the food was super and was cooked to perfection. The staff were attentive and friendly and the ambience was lovely. I cannot wait to return as it was... More

Found this place through trip advisor & unlikely we would have done otherwise. Not in the main city but over the bridge & on Spencer Road - not much also from the outside. Inside though is a different story. We had a warm & friendly welcome on a Saturday evening (even with a baby in tow.) They gave us great... More

Easter Sunday lunch 2013 for a family of 5 ...couldn't be better...great food and service...the medium rare fillet steak was perfectly prepared and presented. Hard to get any better...however a few minor comments include the the background music (wasn't quite to my taste) and the wine list needs a bit of work to reach the heady heights of the fantastic... It may not be much to look at from the outside but is well worth a visit based on the quality of its food. We were in early for the early bird menu, two courses each and a bottle of wine for £50 with that standard of food is excellent. Worth a visit.
