I brought my parents here for some tea and cake whilst they were visiting this weekend, and wow, what amazing cakes! I had the chocolate and almond cake which was almost liquid it was so moist! My dad had a brownie which also looked delicious, and my mum's bara brith was divine! There is an excellent selection of speciality teas... More

went for tea after a morning's shopping with my daughter and stepped into an oasis of calm a stone's throw from the Millennium Stadium within the walls of Cardiff Castle. The selection was varied and interesting and service was excellent. Portions were very generous - we were so full that we took the offer of taking our cakes home! crockery... More

I really like the description of us as 'an oasis of calm' I think I may use that in my marketing. Really pleased that you and your daughter enjoyed your visit. Come and see us when that sun does finally shine, it truly is lovely sitting outside and bathing in it with a nice cup of tea. See you next... More

I would recommend for anyone visiting Cardiff to pop over for some lunch or the delicious afternoon tea. The staff were polite, friendly and happy to take requests. The afternoon tea consisted of 2 pots of tea of your choice, 3 different sandwiches to share, a fruit or plain scone and a slice of cake of your choice. (I had... More

Excellent location will be great in the summer. My partner and I had Walnut & banana cake and Lemon cake both were very nice but the lemon cake could've been more moist and lemony. I also tried a vanilla steamer for the first time, which was something different and really enjoyed it, looking forward to trying another flavour when we... More

I'd read about this place on TA so thought it was worth checking out. It's cute, a modern tea room but with their vintage mish mash of crockery. We both had salads which were nice but maybe needed a little more on the plate. Great selection of cakes with the added bonus of dietry specific options, I can't eat gluten... More

Really pleased you liked the gluten free cake selection. Our Bara Brith has just turned Dairy Free to help us cater for even more dietary requirements. We always have Gluten Free bread just ask a member of staff and we can whip a sandwich or whatever you fancy. We also do a brill Gluten Free Afternoon Tea to order, so... More

My sister and I took my mother here on Saturday as a treat. It was her first afternoon tea and she enjoyed every second. Booking a table in advance is essential as there were people waiting for tables. That said, we werent rushed at all and we made to feel extremely welcome. The tea selection is good with a range... The location is perfect, Pettigrews is situated in the old gate house at the entrance to Bute Park alongside the river. It is a pretty setting, especially as, when we were there, the sun is shining! We were treated well by the staff, with very prompt and friendly service, along with a good explanation of the menu. We were seated... More

I booked a table for my friends birthday and was really pleasantly surprised. We went for the Chef's selection of sandwiches option which was followed by scones and cake which was very filling for the six of us and very delicious. The cakes are home made, the atmosphere was really nice, great value for money and the service was outstanding... More
