My mid afternoon visit was over before it began... it was hard to find a seat at a table that wasn't mucky to start with and the staff weren't very helpful regarding my questions about the menu so I went elsewhere.

Overall average. The food i found to be overrated, yes it is different from the usual places to dine in Leeds city centre however there are numerous better places elsewhere and you don't have to go far. The biggest let down for me was a mix of high prices for portion size mixed with food quality that lacked the freshness...

Once through the doors you are immediately impressed by the attractive and well considered furnishing. It's great when you receive a welcome that feels genuinely friendly rather than corporate cliched.
The tapas style "pick & mix" menu is wonderful. We chose Buffalo Blue Cheese Rarebit, Black Pudding & Chicken Samosa, Crispy Pigs Ears &
Pickled Onions, and Olde Yorke Fritters...

This is first and foremost a "real" pub - Timothy Taylor's at its best. However, there is another good reason to visit this place: The food is fabulous and the friendly hospitality and ambience give rise to an all round excellent, inexpensive experience, not to be missed when visting Leeds!

Visiting Leeds, and having seen the very good reviews, we arrived at about 6.30 on a Monday evening. At first sight, it seemed like a smallish City Centre boozer with a dozen or so after-work drinkers and we were initially a bit disappointed but decided to stay for a pint of excellent Timothy Taylors. We looked at the menu which...

Visited at a busy Saturday lunchtime with a largish group of friends. We had been recommended by a friend whom had reviewed the pub for a local magazine and was NOT dissapointed. Everyone in our party had a different meal, the food came out piping hot & at the same time. I had the scampi, which I would order again,...

We picked the Tavern on the strength of its rating, 3rd in Leeds according to Trip Advisor.
What a fantastic place, the food is outstanding and given this is a pub it is far better than many of the restaurants in Leeds.
The starter menu has a dozen small nibble courses a bit like tapas at only £2 each a...

Not being 'locals', we tend to visit at lunch time, and have always found the service outstanding and the food on offer to be delicious, well cooked and with an excellent choice..
The manager and staff are friendly and relaxed, despite the fact that the place is often really busy....they always have time to make you feel welcome and at...

We are trying very hard to keep up the good work and it is a lot of pressure to meet guest expectations when you are ranked nr 3 on tripadvisor! Not that I am complaining :-). Many thanks for your great comments and for taking the time to write this great review.

We had Sunday lunch here, priced at one course for £9.95, two for £13.95 or three for £16.95. We were greeted and served by knowledgeable staff who genuinely seem to care about the customer and the product. We ended up having 3 courses, as everything was so delicious - an imaginative menu with top quality ingredients and offering 5/6 choices...

We are very much looking forward to seeing you again. And I must agree with you that both the smoked salmon and the Queenie scallops were very tasty. I did eat both myself as I could not choose! And then had the beef as well! More delicious dishes will be waiting for you the next time. Many thanks for great...

I had flown in from the Middle East the previous Day and had driven to Leeds to have lunch with my younger daughter and her partner. We had reserved a table for 5 of us. On arrival we were told that there had been a mix up in allocating tables and that could we wait before being seated. We were...
