Found this pub / restaurant by chance, and what a great find. Had lunch on Bank Holiday Monday in the lovely courtyard, which is a wonderful suntrap. I had fishcakes and salad which was sufficient for a main meal on it's own and my husband had the ploughmans which contained various cheeses, chunks of fresh bread, pickles, porkpie & Salad... More

Great Decor! Cosy and traditional. We went today as a change from our usual place ! I had a tasteless cous cous burger. I cook a better roast at home ( so my Hubby and Kids told me) and the Rhubarb and Apple crumble was ruined by someone too heavy handed with the cloves !! It completely overpowered the fruit... More

We had dinner with friends here last night, and the food and service were all very good. It also has a very nice ambience and is well worth a visit. We shall be back soon

we had our wedding anniversary meal here, the service was top notch and friendly with table service, the food quick and tasty. surrounding were very well done, with quite a lot of space , so didn't feel crowded in, and pricing was perfect for the high standard of the food, the only gripe we had,was it was a vaulted room and... Bank Holiday Friday 6pm ish no booking but we were accommodated, already a few people in the pub - good sign, the menu has enough variation to make it interesting without going overboard. The food was good if a little expensive - Chickpea, feta and carrot fritters served with mint yoghurt and warm pitta bread £8.50? Three small fritters and... More

We live in the next village along and have often driven past the Horse and Groom thinking 'we must visit'. Went for the first time today and we'll definately be back. The pub runs a series of themed food weeks and we happened to arrive for the start of fish week. Food for all four of us was excellent, cooked... More

I've been here a few times now and every time the food has been of a high standard. The service is good, even when very busy. They have a good selection of ales. I plan to visit again even though it's a little out of my way.

Thought we would try somewhere different for a change from our usual haunt. Went for Sunday lunch, 1.00pm, very busy as expected, but waited 45mins for main course to come. Beef was tough and thick enough to constitute a steak. Brocolli was not cooked at all, and my glass of wine never arrived despite asking two waitresses. There lies the... More

We tend to come for lunch mid-week, with a little baby we like the family friendly atmosphere and there's always plenty of room for the pram. There are kids' toys to share and a couple of cosy log fires, plenty of choice on the menu and the service at this time of day has always been quick and friendly. We've... More

8 colleagues enjoyed lunch here last week, my first visit since it was refurbished. Lovely open fires, and good atmospehere. Good menu with plenty of vegetarian options for our veggie friends. We really enjoyed it. It is very easy to find on the A$ at Hare Hatch, near Twyford. Recommended.
