Had a late lunch here with my two cousins, service was as always, excellent. Food as always excellent, but noticed that my welsh rarebit portion was much smaller than on previous occasions. Tables are way too close together, our table was the "entertainment" for the table next to us. I still find it amazing how there are long queues every... More

We had to Que for about 15min which we did not mind as we had not booked. But the queuing system is dreadful. Queuing in the doorway of the Shop and restaurant is ridiculous its not big enough for both. The Tables are not big enough and there is to many, all they care about is how amy covers they... More

Not inexpensive - £15.00 for two teas and two scones but absolutely top quality, wide range of teas, cakes, light lunches, all beautifully presented by the most polite and courteous staff. A throwback to the way (we think) it was. But not a place to sit down and chat for the afternoon - you will be given your bill without... More

On arriving at our hotel in York around four o'clock on a Friday afternoon we left everything in the car and headed straight for the little Betty's in Stonegate. Wise move! There was no queue and we were shown to a table by the window with a tremendous view up and down the street. We could people-watch as much as... More

After a long wait outside we were very disappointed in the quality and value of this coffee shop. .my salmon sandwich was made with slices of bread from a small loaf and served on a side plate. This was £6. The very small pot of loose tea seemed to be powder only. The decor is OK but my advice would... More

Had afternoon tea which was nice, but more expensive than others around. The staff were quite attentive considering it was very busy. Overall not too bad.

Lovely food and fantastic old fashioned service. We visited Betty's last July as we stay in York with our Caravan and we will be eating there again this year. Lovely atmosphere and tea in proper cups.

Great food, brilliant service. I visit Betty’s a few times a year – whenever I am in York and I am never disappointed. Sometimes getting a table can be quite tricky but it just goes to show what a brilliant and popular this place is! I tried the traditional Cream Tea last week and it was lovely.
