This is a fish and chippy decked out to be a tea-room. Our meal was excellent with service to match. We could not fault it and would go again at any time.
Visited here with 10 friends. The food was very good and service also very good. Everyone enjoyed the food, will definitely return if in Whitby!
First visit to Trenchers after a friend recommended it. Yes, it's a fish and chip restaurant but there are other things on the menu too. Quite impressed with the place, it's modern and clean and the service is good. There is a choice of fish size, we had regular cod and haddock and they were huge. It was very chunky... More
We have enjoyed visits to Trenchers before and always have very good food, and usually a drink of wine. This time we just had coffee but for two fish meals and a pot of coffee the bill was still overv thirty pounds. The prices of drinks seemed very high whereas the food prices were reasonable for a seafront restaurant. Having... More
Ok so Trenchers is a good fish and chip shop. It's more of an art deco restaurant that serves fish and chips. the batter was lovely and light and the fish was very fresh. I know people have raved about it in previous reviews but to be honest I thought it was no better than any other fresh fish shop.... More
Probably the best fried fish you can get. I had haddock, my wife had cod. The fish was superbly tasty, moist and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and friendly. The surroundings are ok but it is a fish and chip shop, not a place for a romantic meal! Some of the best restaurant toilets you will find
A gorgeous but cold November day and our first visit to Whitby. Lots of places to eat but trenchers is in a very predominant location so we went in. We were not disappointed. Definitely not your greasy and seedy fish 'n chip shop but instead a very clean and pleasant environment. Good service and the fish and chips were outstanding.... More
My boyfriend and I visited Trenchers yesterday whilst in Whitby, as we had never been before we were unsure where to eat and thought that the restaurant had definite 'kerb appeal'. On entering we were not disappointed, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a very comfortable booth. The decor in the restaurant is of a very high standard and... More
We recently visited Trenchers, after a gap of a few years. I have superb memories of Trenchers and would say historically this place could NOT be beaten. We visited on a weekday evening, it wasn't overly busy and we were seated quickly and efficiently. Service was pleasant and efficient, but I'm afraid the food simply wasn't up to the standard... More
My partner and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Trenchers. I had the best steak pie ever, it was so good we went to the butchers where they buy the pie from to buy our own to take home! My partner really enjoyed the fish and chips and the service was excellent.
