Bare in mind i do not mind paying for food if it is worth it..but...it was stated that it was £4 extra for.."rack of lamb"..which is fine..then to be served 3 lamb cutlets this is not a rack of lamb.. with a smattering of roast veg is laughable...so to be charged £44 for an average meal in what is a... This is a small restaurant on the outskirts of Whitby so parking is no problem. Interesting menu, nicely cooked and well priced food and a lovely lady who looks after "front of house". Well worth a visit.

Six of us visited this excellent restaurant on a Saturday evening. We confirmed with the taxi driver that he knew the way,(as it's on the edge of town),he said "yes it used to be the vets" ,we smiled, from the previous reviews,we were confident we weren't going to be served a dogs dinner. Once inside,we were very warmly greeted, and seated in... More

Booked here as we couldn't get a booking at Ditto. The restaurant is clean and presentable but rather lacking in character. The food however was very good and well priced and, within the limits of an uninspiring setting I felt the owners had done their best to make the dining experience special. The service was friendly and not rushed. We... More

This little restaurant is tucked away on the West Cliff amongst a small parade of shops. It is well worth seeking out. There are around 10 tables and it advisable to book. Maureen the co-owner is very friendly and attentive. There is a varied menu and the food is of an excellent standard. There were some regulars in when my... More

We were in Whitby for the weekend and picked this restaurant after reading the reviews here. We were not disappointed. The service and food were excellent. We were made very welcome and given Olives, Breadsticks and Humus to eat while we perused the menu. We both went for the Scallops followed by the Fillet of Beef. The scallops were lovely... More

Lovely warm welcome from Maureen. Olives, homemade sundried tomato bread, bread sticks with a dip,and a refreshing jug of iced water - just for starters, and all complimentary! Food was delicious and plentiful. If you read this review, please take time to find out where it is in Whitby. It isn't central, but once you've been, you will want to... More

Food and ambience were both outstanding: the duck,a dish difficult not to over cook, was perfect. The service was efficient and friendly without being obsequious. Our only minor suggestion is to get a wider variety of CDs as we heard the same song 4 times.

We ate with friends at no4 recently to celebrate an anniversary. The food was beautifully presented, tasted delicious and was very good value for money. You can tell when food is prepared freshly and not out of a microwave. Our hostess made us feel relaxed and you felt as though you were appreciated and not treated as just another customer.... More

Booked after reading other reviews. In a strange place in a small row of shops, on the edge of town in a residential area, but a pleasant stroll along seafront so easy to get to. Simply furnished, service fab. Food lovely - it's definitely worth a visit and would recommend.
