Description: Chef Claude Bosi originally opened Hibiscus in Ludlow, where he won his first Michelin star in 2001 and a second three years later. In 2007, the restaurant was relocated to Maddox Street where it has become one of Londons most celebrated dining destinations, and was named as one of the World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2011 (one of only 4 UK restaurants to receive this honour) . Having trained under top French chefs like Alain Passard and Alain Ducasse, Claudes cooking has an unmistakably Gallic flourish and a strong sense of seasonality. His menu features show-stopping dishes like foie gras parfait; roast black bream stuffed with girolles; and confit leg of Brittany rabbit. The dining room is an understated and elegant space, allowing the fine wine and flawless food to take centre stage. Suitable for business lunches and romantic dinners alike, Hibiscus offers a truly unforgettable experience.

The food is what one would expect from a restaurant such as this, however the service was not. There were many problems with the service, but most were secondary to the obviously poor attitude of a senior wait-staff member. For instance: 1). Our first courses were placed on the table, in a clumsy fashion, and without a word of explanation.... More

We went for lunch and enjoyed a meal rich in taste, contrasting textures, smells and colours combined with delicious wines. The service was warm and comfortable and we thought the room was cool but welcoming. If you are looking for fine dining then it does not come much better than this.

After an excellent lunch at the cube by Electrolux with Claude Bosi, I was very much looking forward to visiting Hibiscus. The decor as others have said was plain and uninspiring, but that's fine because I'm not there to stare at the walls. I started with crab, Rose hip and crab apple sorbet, fresh walnuts. The crab came wrapped in... More

We enjoyed our meal @ Hibiscus, particularly the pre dessert was particularly interesting. We had a special offer menu which came with an apertif so it was reasonable value the air con was on too high ... it was cold and we all had to put our cardi/jacket on... the setting is typical of michelin starred restaurant, very quiet, no... The simplistic menu gave no idea of the delights that would enfold as dinner progressed. We were not rushed even though the booking was for an early meal and the service was quietly efficient without any of the fake fawning somtimes present. The food elicited exclamations of delight from all four of us at different times. My only small reservation is that... Went here for a birthday. I have never felt so rushed through a tasting course. As soon as they had cleared a course the next one was already there. Full tasting course in less than an hour is not an enjoyable experience and then the wine was stacking up as we had ordered the matching wines and there was not... More

You would think a restaurant of this "standard" would at least employ someone to properly shell a crabs before serving it to paying guests, I pulled 5 bits of crab shell out of my mouth whilst eating at hibiscus. The main dish was the most bland pork belly I have ever eaten. The restaurants interior somewhat resembled the tasteless food.... More

we went to the restaurant for a birthday celebration. ok, it was a Monday night but there were only 3 tables occupied and no ambience/atmosphere whatsoever. however, most disappointingly, the food was too complex and over fussy. the result was that my scallop starter lacked depth of flavour, the pork main too fatty and the desert simply poor. whilst the... This was the first time at Hibiscus, which had been on my list of places to visit when I´m in London. As you´ll have noticed from other reviews, this small restaurant, just of Regent St., has an unusual location, and if you didn´t know, you wouldn´t find it. That´s all part of the deal. Although Hibiscus´ specialty is tasting menus,... More

We booked the £49 set menu, but things were a bit mixed: Excellent appetisers, but the rest of the meal was not great: - Starters: My mussel soup was a bit bland and slightly cold. My partner ordered the "risotto", not realising that it was not made from pasta, a bit unexpected. - Mains; The rabbit was fine, but the... More
