I have no connection to this establishment and this is a genuine review from a genuinely satisfied customer. Myself and friends chose to dine here completely by chance, being strangers to the area. I'm not a huge fan of Thai and Chinese food, so was a little wary but we ordered starters and mains randomly from the menu as the... More

I love Vietnamese food, so am probably quite easily pleased, but happened across Green Papaya whilst in Hackney with fussier friends (none of us local) & can only say: Wow! All four of us were absolutely blown away by every dish we ordered...delicious flavours & textures, good sized portions, very reasonable prices, every mouthful a taste sensation - great beer... More

If I was a local, I would definitely frequent this place. Those squid rings with chili and garlic are absolutely yum and make a great appetizer. Bit busy, but friendly place with OK housewine, perfect for those on a budget who still wanna have a tastebuds-challenging meal. Only minus is that every dish they bring to other tables makes you... Green papaya, is a good Vietnamese restaurant that offers good food at a good price. The atmosphere was good, thought the tables are small for a big guy like myself but not small enough to complain. And we had to wait like 10 minutes after we finished to see that they wasn't going to bring us the check so we... More

I went here on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews but was very disappointed. I had chicken with ginger and lemongrass. The who,e dish was tasteless. The ginger was in in edible thick slices and the lemongrass like wood splinters.

Delicious fresh ingredients. Particularly enjoyed the spicy beef salad. Quick service, unpretentious place despite the number of hipsters eating there. Refreshing green tea and an interesting menu.

Refreshing Green Papaya salad to start (I wasn't sure if the name referred to a key ingredient or simply the "house salad") followed by their duck in spicy sauce with aubergine and tofu. This was really characterful and satisfying - I wasn't wholly convinced by the pineapple but overall it was well balanced and tasty. Good Vietnamese green tea. The... More

My girlfriend and I absolutely adore Vietnamese food, it's probably our favourite far eastern cuisine. We've eaten at a large number of Vietnamese restaurants in London, the vast majority in the E/EC/N postcodes of London. We had such high expectations of Green Papaya but sadly it didn't deliver. The restaurant itself promised much. It was lively yet cosy and had... More

Great buzzing atmosphere, quick excellent service, gorgeous food to die for. A regular haunt for my son and fiancee. I will definitely be back there on my next visit to Hackney, soon I hope!
