Description: Handily situated right in Londons thriving theatreland is the Maharajah of India restaurant, a spot popular with tourists and Londoners looking for great food in a sea of choices. With its unassuming frontage it would be all too easy to pass the Maharajah of India by in favour of something with a little more bling. But head inside and youll find a cosy and welcoming restaurant with swift, efficient and friendly service. The excellent food is traditionally Indian with additional specialities, thalis and great sizzling dishes offered besides the usual. English dishes are also available while Indian sweets are a delight worth saving a little space for.

I often visit this restaurant when I'm in the West End seeing shows, for its convenient location and its tasty food. It can get busy at times but the staff never rush you and are pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend the vegetable jalfrezi.

This is my first tripadvisor review ever and unfortunately it's not a positive review, but i'm doing this because i don't want other unsuspecting people to have the same experience as i had tonight! Went to dinner here tonight about 10pm after going to the theatre, i had walked past this restaurant a few times before on my way to... More

This is a small, quaint Indian restaurant and the only one in Charing Cross Road. The service is friendly and the food tasty. Try not to sit near the doors on a cold day as whenever the door opens you get a breath of cold air, which during the course of the evening can become rather cool. So sit at... More

Service terrible, food terrible. On the plus side the wine was nice. I won't be wasting my money here again.

The service was poilte and efficient, the waiter was more than happy to let my colleague charge his mobile phone while we ate and they didn't try and rush us out when we finished eating. The food was slightly disappointing and a bit on the pricey side. Pickle tray with the poppadoms was a bit small could have done with... More

Reading some of the reviews below i thought were ridiculous. probably people being far to unrealistic and expecting way to much for what it is. Me and my husband were staying in London for a long weekend, we came upon this place and liked the look inside but some of the reviews almost put me off. We thought we'd give... More

Was passing and the place looked ok from the outside. Ordered a Tandoori chicken starter, £4.95 got me a tiny piece of chicken, smaller than a drumstick. The nan bread was £2.90 and the curry I had was £9.90, which was average for the price. 10 per cent service charge automatically added and they expected a tip as well. The... More

We ate at the restraunt twice and enjoyed both meals. Dishes are not very hot so ask for extra sauce if you want real heat. The food is not expensive. Dishes were flavorful with good portions. Upon seating they give several crispy wafers with 3 sauses and oinion mix. This was a great starter that was very flavorful and light.... More

I wanted to share my experience of the maharaja of India, I have been coming here for 15 years and have always had great food and faultless service. I would challenge anyone to find better quality Indian food at such sensible prices with such good service in central London! I have brought friends and work colleagues to the Maharaja and... More

I have visited this restaurant at lunchtime on three occasions during the twelve months. I have never have a poor meal here, and I will definitely visit again if in the area. The service is pleasant, there is no loud music and the food is, from my personal experience, is great. I paid by debit card on the last occasion... More
