Description: Elegant, Michelin starred Quilon doesn't shout about its refined menu of South Indian coastal cuisine, which specialises in tangy seafood; it's far too discreet. Appealingly decorated in a muted palette, with wicker-backed chairs adding to the colonial air, the restaurant attracts business diners and social gatherings in equal parts to its well-heeled St. James's location. The team at Quilon use only the best ingredients and cooking techniques to ensure that each dish highlights their collective passion for home-style Indian cuisine. Always looking for ways to innovate, Quilon often experiments with combining modern and traditional elements of South Indian cuisine to ensure that a unique range of dishes can be found on the menu. The renowned seafood dishes include the Spiced Grilled Red Snapper, Koondapur Fish Curry and Pan Fried Lobster with Kashmundi Mustard Cream Sauce and Spices. For the perfect accompaniment to your meal, you can also choose from an extensive selection of drinks from the wine list, which was recognised in 2009 with Wine Spectator's prestigious Award of Excellence.

Have been here in the evening and had a super meal, well presented, well cooked in a vibrant environment. Saturday lunch was very different. Service still attentive but not as, food and flavours good but not as, restaurant not busy and it showed. Almost as if a busy restaurant meant everyone ups their game. Quiet and they don't seem to... Quilon has a Michelin Star. This ought to tell you a lot about the food, which is an interpretation of Indian that resembles French. The food deserves to be classified as "very good" but I am not sure it deserves to be classified as Indian. For me, the negatives fall mainly under the heading of "ambience". Tables are arrayed along... More

As always the best south Indian (thats right, there is life outside of balti/madras/vindlaoo/curry) non-vegetarian cuisine in the UK. Very expensive though. So save up for that special occasion. Everything from the ambience, the service, food quality, the individualised attention you receive is incredible. British restaurants everywhere can take a page out of their book.

My wife and booked this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel, and boy they were spot on with there suggestion. I agree with a review on here that mentioned that we were greeted by a less enthusiastic young lady on the desk, but we were shown to our table, and we were then greeted by a waiter who took... More

Despite being greeted by a less that completely friendly girl at the front door, the restaurant completely won us over from arriving at our table. The staff are attentive and pleasant and the food is fantastic.

Whilst the food was decent and well presented, I cannot forgive them for getting the concept of a tasting menu so wrong: rather than serve 8 tasting courses, they essentially served 8 full courses! I am a big guy, with the biggest appetite out of pretty much everyone I know. Yet after 5 courses I was feeling extremely uncomfortably full... More

We first ate here pre-theatre and enjoyed it so much that we vowed to return sometime so that we could savour the atmosphere and food with no deadlines to adhere to. The food was delicious and the starters, in particular were beautifully presented. We opted to share all the food we ordered and we enjoyed every mouthful. We think the... More

I went back to this restaurant the other night and cannot tell you how much I would recommend this place other than to say, you must go. You see the manager greeting all guests and arriving at each table whilst checking on your meal. Santanu and his team have really done well, thank you! The team are all polite and... More

This restaurant's Southern Indian food is quite tasty and offers a different Indian food experience a step above the standard "London Indian Place." The range of food is both better quality and of a different type than what most places offer. The range of small plates is also nice. Not inexpensive, but reasonably priced for the areas and quality level.
