It is thanks to Tafa (the lady who runs this) that we got into Ethiopian food. We are definitely regular customers here. It's a hidden gem, low key, but yet very pleasant. it's like being in her own living room. and the food, of course, is just delicious. We can't get enough.

Over the last year and half I have visited zeret many times, and have introduced many people to it, many of whom are now loyal customers. The owner is lovely and will help you decide what to get if you can't decide. I always get the zeret surprise, the dishes change depending on what is available but it is always... More

This restaurant is in an unlikely spot on a big road in Camberwell, a bit set back from the road, but once you get inside the warm atmosphere and delicious food make you forget everything! It is easy to get to Zeret Kitchen as many bus routes pass through there, and it is also walkable from Denmark Hill. I have... More

Eaten at Zeret Kitchen twice recently. Both times the food, atmosphere and service have been great. The owner is really friendly, and both times we've just asked her choose our food for us. The food is delicious and good value and the experience of eating is unsual and fun. Can't wait to go again.

We had booked a table at 10.30pm, coming from a theatre. It didn't work very well because despite being a few minutes early, the restaurant was packing up and the waitress was sweeping the floor because the restaurant said they thought we wouldn't be coming(!) However, they did make room for us and were apologetic. No one else there, obviously,... More

I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough! The family running it are warm, welcoming, kind, attentive and the food is DELICIOUS. I visit regularly because it's such good food and such good value.I always have the vegetarian selection, and it's always fantastic: the different stews and the extremely yummy vegetable dishes (I had to order extra french beans last time,... Used to come here when I lived in Camberwell many years ago. The food and the service are as good as then but it's great to see it so popular and busy now. The owner is great and she deserves it.

Zeret Kitchen is a great little find; the owner is incredibly attentive and welcoming. The food is very good value for money- much cheaper than other Ethiopian restaurants we've been to, and tastier too! There are good vegetarian options (not that we ordered any) and food is very individually tailored to our spice preferences! WELL worth the trip to deepest,... More

Although Zeret Kitchen was my first experience of Ethiopian cuisine, I was dining with 2 friends who had eaten this type of food before and one of whom had visited Ethiopia. We ordered the Zeret Surprise which consisted of lamb, beef, chicken, lentil dishes and salad, served on a large platter covered with enjeera (slightly sour pancakes/flat bread), all of... More

The mixed meze style meal for two has to be one of the tastiest and best value meals to be had in London. Everything I've had here has been utterly delicous and the service is fabulous.
