Had a super snack lunch at Greens in Tunbridge Wells today. Excellent home-made soup & bread followed by quite outstanding cake coupled with warm and friendly service made this a highly enjoyable experience.

Tomato and basil soup good but the accompanying bread only average. Restaurant was initially deserted and not thriving like some of its immediate competitors. Just needs a certain something to lift it to the next level!

Uninspiring - cappuccino was extremely weak and had no froth, just a bit of cocoa powder sprinkled on top of a milk coffee. Mt friend even asked for a re-make as his latte looked like dish water. Surrounding coffee houses offer too much good competition to make us want to return.

On a wet New Year's Eve, Green's made us thoroughly welcome, with convivial hosts, a relaxed atmosphere and a great range of eating options. It was great to see families mixing comfortably with other clientele both old and young. A lovely stop and hopefully nail in the high street coffee chains' coffins. I bet they pay their taxes as well.
