We stayed in Porth over the bank holiday weekend and had thought we might eat at the Mermaid as it was really close to our accommodation. Unfortunately, the appearance of the place put us off. It was shabby and tired and clearly needs a complete refurbishment program to bring it up the standard expected by most customers these days. With... More

This is a nice little pub on the beach. I ordered the Cod and Chips and was very happy with the quality of food served. Home made chips and freshly battered fish. None of that terrible frozen stuff.

lovely pub on the beach, good food, ok prices, only thing that hold it back in my humble opinion is that the pub is a little old and tired, could do with a bit of tlc, but that I being very critical, service was good and was nice to sit and enjoy a beer whilst the kids were playing on... More

After reading all the reviews on here we thought we'd give it a try despite it not looking to appetising on arrival, looks quite shabby. Placed our order for food, with there been 10 of us we ordered a in 2 sets of 5 to make it easier on the kitchen staff. To start we ordered 2 portions of chilli... More

A rare find these days and a far cry from the mass produced ‘theme pubs’. This quintessential British pub is located on Porth beach overlooking a photogenic Newquay paradise. In the summer, the beach is littered with families building sandcastles and surfers alike. Perhaps not so pleasant to look at from the outside, with an unappealing stone frontage and a... More

We came across this pub on a random drive and I have to say I loved it, the location is superb as it is right on the beach. There is plenty of parking and seating within the premise. Oh and the food was really nice- and im hard to please. The interior does indeed look a bit tired but has... More

The Mermaid Inn at Porth near Newquay is in a superb location sitting on the corner of Porth beach. It looks out across Newquay bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The interior of the Mermaid is looking a bit tired but has an outside patio area next to Porth beach, which is a nice place to sit and watch the sun... More
