We have just returned from the most amazing dinner at The Lord Clyde. Having never been before, we really didn't know what to expect! However, this is a place we wil definitely be returning to (week after week!!) The food was the best I have tasted - and we eat out a lot!!! I had beef shin with risotto and... More

Went for lunch at Lord Clyde on a tuesday, we booked but when we arrived just after 12:00, there were only two other diners, we were shown to a table and drinks served. After about twenty minutes and with the restaurant filling its approx 30 covers, we eventually had our order taken. This then really became the theme for the... More

Have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed with the food. Flavours of the Northwest is definitely a firm favourite to share as a starter. A good selection of seasonal food for mains, my husbands favourite being a tasting of pork. Friendly service and a good selection of beer and wines available too. We're lucky to live a... More

My wife phoned the Lord Clyde on Sunday afternoon to find out when they served food. She was told they served until 5pm, so we set off, drove half an hour and arrived. When we walked in, we were told that they were fully booked! Now, the barman to whom my wife had spoken was very sheepish and apologetic, accepting... More

We've just been for Sunday lunch and I have to say the food was exceptional! Plenty to choose from off the standard menu and the specials' board - and all beautifully presented. The chef really knows what he is doing (the shin of beef risotto was so unusual but divine) and the front of house staff were warm and welcoming.... More

After my last review I contacted the owner about my concerns. I found that these had occurred during his absence. His approach was very positive and I have returned there tonight for a celebration meal. The service was excellent as was the food. I, on thte basis of tonight and my much earlier good experiences, am very happy to recommend... More

The service was slow, the chef more interested in mobile telephone conversations than in preparing our meal. Even at 7pm the Classic menu was deficient. More

A very nice meal - expensive, but we expected that - and a pleasant atmosphere for a Sunday lunch. Service was amiable but slow, very very slow, and not especially efficient. What spoiled the occasion, though, was an extremely inappropriate magazine article that had been posted behind glass on the wall of the Men's lavatory. It described changing trends in... More

Well done chef, you are maintaining those food standards, food remains imaginative and good, souffle a bit flat, saved by those crunchy almonds. It really is a great little eating place, still a bit confused trying to fit in a serious eatery, live music and a public bar and still not running to decent knapkins despite the prices. More
