We hadn't managed to eat here for sometime and so I was really looking forward to surprising my husband on our aniversary.I was hoping we wouldn't feel rushed as due to work commitments I booked a table for 9.00p.m.I was not dissapointed at all. We were invited to relax in the lounge with some delicious nibbles, and a drink whilst... More

Ate here again after a gap of almost 9 months, our previous visit rather disappointing. Only 6 diners but it was a Tuesday evening. Very good, well presented food although my companion's starter was rather frugal with the fresh crab. Main courses excellent although they arrived almost as soon as the starters were cleared. Perhaps the chef was in a... More

Dear gourmike, Thank you for dining with us and for your notes on tripadvisor. Since joining us in October, The Curlew's new team have gone from strength to strength, and I'm pleased that you have notice a positive distinction between them and their predecessors. They continue to develop the restaurant each day to aim to deliver as memorable experience to... More

We had heard good things about this restaurant, and since we had the benefit of a Michellin starred establishment on our doorstep we were looking forward to trying it. Take note this was our first visit, we are locals, and probably our last. Very unfortunate, as we like to go back to places we like. But first impressions count. We... More

Dear Miap, I was naturally deeply concerned on reading your review of us. It is, I have to say, completely at odds with the experience that we aim to offer our guests, and in the main part what we manage to achieve. I personally oversee the wine list and it is something that I am very proud of. Each wine... More

We visited the Curlew on my birthday and it did not disappoint! We arrived early for our table so we could have a drink before had, upon entering we were made to feel very welcome by the staff who sat us in the lounge area whist we perused their extensive wine list. We opted for the Chablis and it appeared... More

Dear Rhpring, Thank you for choosing to celebrate your birthday at The Curlew. I am so pleased that we made your special day all the more so. I was equally blown away with the terrine when I tried it, I would never had imagined that the humble terrine could be taken to such heights. I’m pleased that you enjoyed it... More

I have however two very small complaints. The portions on the mackerel (the starter I chose) or quail starters are smallish. The potted crab's size is decent and the salmon souffle is big. Taste-wise, it was all great. The main was very nice, took the pork which was delicious. My other complaint was the dessert, the mango macaroon was rather... More

This would be a very nice restaurant in any other circumstances but it does not warrant a Michelin star. The food was nothing more than reasonably good and was way too salty. There were none of the little extras we would normally get in other Michelin star restaurants. A real disappointment when expectations are high. As an example, we had... More

Dear Kukalu, Oh dear, I am very sorry to hear that we failed to overwhelm you with our food. Sincerely, I wish you had mentioned your dissatisfaction at the time, allowing us an opportunity to rectify it, which we would have done so unquestioningly. I have passed on your notes on the level of salt and the chocolate dessert onto... More

I visited The Curlew with my partner for our anniversary for the first time recently and was very pleasantly surprised. We joined the Curlew for a day of 'Foraging with Fergus' which was an absolutely wonderful day where we discovered all the 'free' delights that nature has to offer. Dear Nikki, It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you and Tom whilst foraging with Fergus. It was such a fascinating experience and I’m sure you’ll agree that the company made it all the more enjoyable. We are considering holding another foraging day with Fergus in October, when the bounty will be quite different to what we uncovered... More

A casual business 'thank you' lunch was all that was promised by this restaurant. Having had a mixed bag on two previous visits, we were very pleased with everything about this visit. Lovely food and wine and at an acceptable price. Will be going again!
