This has been the go to place for me for a number of years. Excellent fish and chips, great salads etc. But I agree with some reveiwers that the quality and service has slipped a bit. On our recent visit, my parent had fish and chips. They were ok but a bit soggy. I had the oyster burger (because the... More

We entered the restaurant and our immediate view was of the large vats used in their frying process. The stench of hot oil permeated the place. There were tables beyond the entrance but we opted for the outside deck to alleviate the odour. We were issued 3 grubby menus and that was it. No water although it was a very... More

What a great little fish and chips joint. Several types of fish to choose from and light batter or even grilling is available. They also have 3 really good large dinner salads with several choices of house-made dressings.. There is both outside and inside seating. The one complaint I might have is the noise of the grill fans, especially in... More

This where you want to go if you want a great affordable fish meal. Practice your knots and get large pieces of halibut and salmon in a light batter or grilled. Include yam fries with your meal from a place that was doing yam fries before it was cool.

We try to get to this Sydney staple en route to Victoria from the ferry and made it there this past Sunday. As noted a new menu but the items we go for are all there! Never disappointed! I had a cup of clam chowder, deep fried halibut and chips. This is a fish and chips place after all! My... More

Fish on Fifth has a new menu, many of the old favourites, and some new. The big news is that they are offering gluten-free batter for their deep-fried fish. I tried it last night, and it is yummy! Very light, and crispy. And my piece of fish was quite big compared to other recent visits. Yam fries were hot and... More

I've lived in sidney my whole life and this little fish place used to be the best place to get fish and chips. Over the years the food and service has gone downhill. From the lazy staff, to the food that has clearly been prepared by someone who doesn't really care about what they're putting on the plate. When tourists... More

It was Sunday around 5:30 PM and not busy at first. Only two staff were there. One was cooking and the other was serving. We waited a long time and when our meals came they were terrible. My friend had the sea food chowder and she was disgusted. I had halibut grilled, all three bites of it, yam fries and... More

We all enjoyed our meal however it does get very busy and you can be in for a bit of a wait which is the only down side.
