Description: Overlooking the beautiful quay in historic Topsham, The Galley Restaurant is famed throughout the South West for its impeccable seafood menu. A short drive from the busy university town of Exeter, The Galley provides an opportunity to really get away from it all and it comes as little surprise to learn that its a firm fixture on the foodies tourist trail. In a fifteenth century merchants house offering panoramic views of the River Exe as it meanders towards the sea, diners experience the culinary delights of Devon what the owners like to refer to as Devon on a plate. A daily changing menu of seafood specials using the best produce from local day boats is accompanied by a wide range of regionally produced meats and vegetables. Surprisingly credit card kind, The Galley Restaurant is as perfect for business and family dining as it is for special occasion romance and celebrations.

My boyfriend and I went to The Galley for a meal back in November 2011 and have been meaning to write a review of this place for ages because it was so brilliant. The restaurant had a really lively yet cosy atmosphere and we received a very warm welcome and had our coats taken for us (a lovely added extra... More

I had read about this restaurant in a food magazine and it didnt disappoint. The Brill and scallops were simple and delicious. Quite a small, intimate place so not somewhere I would want to take the children. They do take awy fish and chips which I imagine is delicious. More

We went for lunch and chose from the £15 for 2 courses menu and were delighted with our choice, which was extremly good value. On being seated we were given olives, butter and bread. The service was good, the food beautifully presented and delicious. We watched the dishes going to other tables, some from the main menu, and could have... More

Had a great meal here last week. Everything was really well done from the table, menu, service and most importantly, the food. We will return again when we revisit Topsham. More

What a fantastic dinning experience. I had scallops with butternut squash and micro herbs followed by Brill in Champagne batter. It worked , beautifully. Excellent, friendly service with a smile + a view thrown in. You'd be hard pushed to find anywhere better than here. More

We booked a table for lunch here as it had such excellent reviews on trip advisor. We were so glad we did as the service was excellent and the food was amazing. Very well presented and beautiful flavours in everything we ate. Not cheap, but no more expensive than a lot of places in the area. Would recommend to anyone... More

We booked this for a family dinner to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday and we weren't disappointed. Although it was a Tuesday evening the place was full and some people had to be turned away, so obviously they are doing something right. The starters, mains and deserts were all superb and when my daughters pudding was brought out the proprietor... More
