It makes you want to live right next door to it! These bagels are chewy, sweet and my god when they're fresh, you can eat 5 and not feel ashamed.

These are the best bagels in the world. Being a Montreal resident, I receive orders from family members to pack a few dozen when we visit... a must for anyone visiting Montreal.

Stopped in for breakfast. Even at 8AM on a Sunday the place was crowded. We ended up shoehorned into a table between many others. Noise level was high, and the space was small. The menu was pretty basic, really, but we tried a Western Omlette and their Smile, which is a bagel sliced in two with an egg in each... More

Two locations on St-Viateur Street ensure you'll be able to grab a bagel to chew on. Of the two, only one has an ATM just inside the door, tucked around the corner. Fair warning - if you ask for a dozen, you'll get a dozen of the signature sesame seed bagels. Be clear when you order if you're looking for... More

We were told that we had to get Montreal-style bagels at St-Viateur if we were going to visit Montreal. So we took the bus from our hotel to St-Viateur on the last night of our visit and bought three dozen poppy-seed ones to take home. (Hubby's allergic to sesame ones.) I'll put this disclaimer right here now - I'm not... More

If ever there was an institution in Montreal, this is it. It is not uncommon for people to walk in and ask for 6+ dozen bagels at a time, just so they can bring them home. Torontonians who are former Montrealers always make sure they stop in on their way back home. Guess why?

Every time I go to Montreal, I always make a stop over here! The bagels are so fresh and delicious! They freeze well so don't be afraid to buy and stock up!

When we told friends we were visiting Montreal, they said we must visit. But bagels? You can find bagels all over the world. We've been to New York. We thought we had the best. NO! There is absolutely nothing like the bagels here. When we were in Montreal, we returned three days out of our 5-day trip. Great staff. Very... More

The bagels are great when its fresh and hot / warm but if they sit too long and get hard then they're not that easy to chew on. In that case, cut them up and toast them with butter and slap on the cream cheese and bacon or smoked salmon and you have another meal.

We are from NYC, and the St.-Viateur Bagel gives our favorite bagel shops a run for their money (as all of the hype suggests). The still-hot bagels were truly delicious. The most unexpected part of our visit was the kindness and generosity of the man behind the counter. He was so friendly and helpful, making suggestions about places to visit... More
