Not the place for vegans. You have to be a bit adventerous to try this but it was a great meal. Since they don't take reservations it is a bit hit and miss if you will get seated. We went down about 8pm on a saturday. They told us it would be about 45 minutes and we could wait next... More

Wow. I was soo ready to try this restaurant. Anthony Bourdain was here ( seemed to enjoy it ) and the menu seemed irresistible . My disappointment started with the waitress and finished with just ok meal. The young waitress was quite "unhappy" and unhelpful person, who didn't even look at us when talking to us. Bone marrow was tasty,... More

We tried this place out on a night out in Toronto, went out of our way to get there, actually. It's fairly small and blah inside, most of the staff inside give off the air that they're better than you, especially when you ask a question or two. There was nothing that especially stood out about the place other than... More

Don't let the (intentionally) blah decor fool you - this place is the real deal. Bizarre, interesting, but delicious plates abound. Bring your appetite and a slightly open mind. You will love it.

We tried oxtail with scallops, sweetbreads and horse meat. We should probably have started with the last, as the first was heavier than the rest. Our fault but no criterion in what is offered. I am Italian so pasta first, secondo afterwards, there is a reason for that as there is a reason for having lighter wine first. Good overall... More

A truly carnivore adventure and culinary delight. I've never been to a restaurant as exciting, as adventurous, as delicious as this one in Toronto. All the dishes we tried delivered: charcuterie (easily the best we've ever had), bone marrow, blood pudding, oxtail and scallops, cauliflower, and smoked sweetbread. They're all equally outstanding I have a hard time to choose our... More

So friend in TO found this place online and suggested we go here. Did not disappoint. Small little restaurant, that has the menu on the wall...reminds me of "Salt" in Vancouver, however, these were small plates and not appetizers. Unique selection of plates, so go here if you are adventurous. Meat lovers unite. Sweet breads, foie gras, beef tongues, bone... More

Found this restaurant online about 3 months ago and since finding have gone back 4-5 times - even thought its a 20 minute drive. Very affordable and lots of new different full of flavour and out of the ordinary dishes for the adventurous carnivore. You must like meat to dine here as it is there main focus, they have vegetables,... More

I must begin by saying that getting into the Black Hoof is an ordeal… prepare to wait a long while as they dont take reservations. Luckily (a clever move by the management), they have the raw bar (same owner) right next door, were you can try a few dishes and have a few drinks while you wait. I can honestly... More

I have had the pleasure of eating at the Black Hoof multiple times over the last few years and it is one of my all-time favourite places. The menu is inventive, always changing and always great. They do incredible things with parts of the animals which would normally be waste. For my money, if we're going to eat animals, we... More
