This is something to try and a place where tourists love to go. The original beavertail is good. But the last time I took it, it was so fat! Kinda creepy... Except that time, really enjoy that in winter.

Right in the heart of the Byward Market. Must try this treat that comes in a variety of flavours. Be entertained by Buskers while you snack, some seating available, fast and friendly service.
Can't go to Ottawa and not try beaver tails. Basically, overpriced slab of dough that is deep fried and garnished with pretty much anything you like. In the winter there are installations all over the canal so you can stop for a snack during your skate.
While we were staying in Canada with family, our relatives recommended this place as a must. Though we had went to Ottawa many times before, we had never decided to give this place a try. Put this on your list and don't miss it! The beaver tails are sooooooooooo good!! We had the cinnamon and sugar and the kids enjoyed the oreo covered beaver tail. Both were great! And very reasonably priced! No long lines either. Fast service!

Even though this goes against all my clean eating beliefs, it just has to be done ! I haven't had a Beavertail since skating on the Rideau Canal years ago when my kids were smaller. There is always a line-up but service is quick. Had the Killaloe Sunrise (cinnamon sugar and lemon) and it was delicious.
Beavertails are the most fabulous indulgence to come from Ottawa. Picture your donut being flattened like a schnitzel into a beavertail shape (hence the name) and then deep-fried. If you have a sweet tooth, these Beavertails come in various flavours that you'll find typical in your donut shop. My favourite flavour is the garlic and cheese -- Yes it DOES...

I've had BeaverTails elsewhere (Toronto Zoo) but they are the BEST here and they offer many other choices.
If you have never tried a BeaverTail, go now! So delicious! It's great in the afternoon, or after a night of drinking. I usually go with the cinnamon, sugar and lemon. The people working there are very friendly and like to chat it up.
If you are new to Ottawa, the top 3 things to try are: 1. BeaverTails 2....
