My friend and I went to Chien Noir for lunch on a shopping trip to Kingston. It was a beautiful day so we took advantage of the lovely patio they have behind the restaurant. The service was excellent and the lunch delicious. We tried the lobster sandwich which was very good; although very rich! The server offered us half frites... More

After Le Chien noir hit a rough patch a couple of years ago, we stopped going there. Since things seemed to have improved, we decided to give it another try. We are glad we did. The highlight of our meal was the Fazoletti pasta. The pasta itself was delicious, and the whole dish was a careful, original and balanced blend... More

We visit Kingston once or twice a year and really enjoyed our meal at Le Chien Noir last year. I was looking forward to a return visit but sadly, this will likely be our last. The foie gras in the appetizer was not deveined so I found myself battling with stringy bits. The steak frite was not much of an... More

We found this restaurant right next to the one recommended by our hotel and as we'd had Italian the night before we checked out the menu and the awards on the door and made a reservation. This is a nice space, the staff friendly. We decided to share a range of appetisers as the oyster menu looked awesome and of... More

Oysters and Mussels are fine! Best mussels ever and I have spent a lot of time on the coast. Interesting bistro menu, changes frequently. Highly educated and sophisticated wait staff. Service team and chef are up on their allergens. Street side patio or sheltered patio in the back. Owner often on site. Atmosphere is just perfect. A little eclectic, somewhat... More

We've been there twice, once for their 'prix fixe' menu which consists of a three course menu and the second time only for their "plat de charcuterie "and their home salad . On both occasion it was a discovery of their chef's amazing talents!

This is a great restaurant; in fact this is one of my mandatory stops whenever I'm in Kingston on business. I have never been disappointed and the service is always excellent. You can't go wrong with the daily specials and the fixed price menu is excellant value. Make sure you try the Creme Brule. Please bring back the popcorn appetizer.... More

My wife and I have eaten at Le Chien Noir on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The food, ambience, service and downtown location are a perfect combination. The only drawback for those who are a little infirm is the location of the toilets which one must access via a rather steep stairway. Apart from this, Le Chien Noir... More

My husband and I went for an anniversary dinner at Le Chein Noir. I'm a fan of quality, with him greatly favouring quantity, so our views on Le Chein greatly differed. I enjoyed the food- I thought it was delicious, although definitely a bit pricey f

The food here is a bit unique almost fusion style. It is higher quality and good. Had lunch here but found the menu a bit limited but you will walk away full as the portions are a good size. Service for food was quick but overall attention could be improved. The place was clean, including the patio cafe out front.
