Great food, excellent service and atmosphere, a great menu with heaps to choice from value for money would highly recommend eating here.

The food was excellent and decently priced. Interesting building and accommodating staff. Would highly recommend!
We popped into this pub for dinner one evening and liked it so much that we went back the next evening.
The fish and chips were extremely good as was the hunters pie after which I was stuffed. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive. The place had a great atmosphere as well. Go on a Thursday evening...

Never thought I would have breakfast at an Irish Pub but I had read reviews and decided to try it. Arrived around 9-9:30 am, it was pretty quiet inside and kind of dark like a pub. Service was courteous and timely. The pub has a decent breakfast menu with several options. I had eggs benedict and it was excellent. The...

This up was built in Ireland, dismantled, shipped to Banff and reconstructed. It has beautiful features with a simple menu, simple food cooked t perfection. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
We went to St. James the first day in Banff and keep going back because we just feel at home here! Great, reasonably priced place to chill. The bartenders are attentive and friendly and it seems that everyone who comes in is just "easy". Good selection of beers and wine. Soups are wonderful and there are some creative Irish dishes...

It has been a few years since we visited St. James Gate and I am pleased to report it's as good as ever. The menu is excellent and inventive (no small feat when it comes to pub grub). Even though it was Friday, we were seated quickly and the food arrived just as quickly. We particularly enjoyed the lamb stew,...

Fun place for dinner. The live music was fine, although the venue is not really set up well for it. On a crowded evening we had to wait 15 minutes (went strolling, but returned to a choice table near the fireplace. The food was a step above for a pub, and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening.
I enjoy Irish Pubs in general; and this one had a great draught beer selection and also a lengthy Scotch menu for those interested.
Our server was great, the food was fantastic Braised lamb shank with veg and mash for $22, Carvery Roast Special with soup or salad for $15. The food came out quickly and was just as good...

On every trip to Banff, a visit to this Pub is always a must. The quality of the food, the reasonable prices and the warm reception for us and our friends is delightful. For us the liver and bacon, fish and chips and the steak sandwich are our favourites.
