We always eat at El Fogon when we visit Playa, and this time was no exception! We visited the location on Constiuyentes (across from Mega) this time and had a great meal! We were a group of four who arrived late evening and barely found a seat because the place was packed! Our server was great, and the food even...

A place like El Fogon is the reason why people love reading TripAdvisor. A little out of the way, but not that far from 5th Avenue. And it lives up to the hype. A locals restaurant, but still very welcoming to tourists, the tacos el pastor and quesadillas here were amazing. We were a group of 8, ranging from 14...

We enjoyed our meal and I can still distinctly remember the savory smell of the grill! It was "warm" during the day, definitely a favorite of the locals, and prices were very reasonable. We saw the pork, but it is not ready to be served until 6pm, so opted for other fare. If you want something authentic, you will enjoy...

This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Playa. The food is awesome!!! Everything is tasty and will leave you pleased and satisfied. It is on our must do list for every trip to Playa. It is traditional, flavorful and good. The staff is friendly and awesome. Had conversations with many of them while there just in kindness. You...

Excellent! The food is fabulous and as authentic as it gets. Ask any local where their favorite is and they will all recommend El Fogon. Best advice is to ask what to order. As it is local, the English is not the main language. Heck, I ordered somthing off the menu without knowing what it was and it was delicious....

Had the pleasure of dining at El Fogon - we were staying at an all inclusive resort and I found them on Tripadvisor. So after asking our bartender, he said you must try it! It turns out the staff at our resort and many others in the area frequent this little gem almost every night after their shift! Great food...

It was so tasty and sooo much better than resort food. AND there was so much of it!

Burrito loco - was the suggestion by my local dive buddy after a two tank dive. It was "loco" :-) a big tortilla with a filling of three different meats and chees. It was amazing. Steamed cactus up front with chips and salsa + Icy cold pacifico - amazing.
And the amazingness got even better when the bill came, including...

It is definitely off the beaten path but well worth it. We just wanted a snack, so we had tacos al pastor and quesadillas sincronizadas with 2 drinks. The total was 79 pesos. Unbelievable. The waiter was friendly and helpful. If you are like me and enjoy venturing out of the tourist zone for a more authentic experience, definitely stop...
