Let me start off by saying that this was one of our all time favorite dinners (both when traveling and while at home--NY/Long Island area) in terms of the excellent quality of food, presentation, decor, ambiance, quality/attentiveness/ever watchful-without being overbearing staff, design, value, and concern for detail. It ranks with or above, many of the fine NYC/LI 4-5 star restaurants... more

We'd heard good reviews of La Habichuela downtown Cancun and when we went to make reservations were told they've opened a "new" branch on the hotel strip. How nice. The new location is right on the bus route. The ambience was romantic, new and near perfect - I was only scared when I had to walk over a part of... more

Go to the one in El Centro which is the original. Sit in the garden area. Have the margaritas on the rocks and definitely have the Caesar salad for two. The Mexican and Mayan coffee for dessert is to die for. All of the food is good, you can't go wrong with anything. Very romantic but also good for a... more

We spent a 3 week trip traveling throughout Mexico. La Habichuela was one of the best restaurants we experienced in our travels. From the moment we stepped in the door, the staff offered exceptional service. (We had our 2 kids under 3 with us!) The food was really good--the Coconut Soup specialty was awesome. They even provided a dessert for... more

We dines at La Habichuela ( the new one in hotel zone) in October 2009. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, we were treated with incredible service from all. The place is beautiful. We sat in the gardena and were thrilled with our table. The waiter was quick to joke and entertain us as well as... more

The food here is average. The drinks are average. It's in a ghetto part of Cancun. The decor is the same since it was founded in the 70s. The service is average. For some reason, our concierge recommended this restaurant to us. Not to mention, that it's #1 for restaurants in Cancun on tripadvisor. I can't understand it. It's all... more

I visited La Habichuela in downtown Cancun in September 2009. I made reservations with Opentable. We took a taxi to get there. We were immediately greeted and escorted to a great table in the garden. You must sit in the garden. There are Xmas lights that give a romantic glow to the garden. The garden is decorated with Mayan art... more

This place was a little oasis...walked thru the front door and was lead to the outdoor courtyard, all lit with tiny lights, just gorgeous! The staff are incredibly attentive. We ordered the La Habachuela soup (string bean), yum! I then ordered the chef special which was grouper, langostino and shrimp. OMG! Delicious. They serve fresh bread which you can select... more

Located on the bay. This is the newer facility just opened in June. Great Ceviche and also try the mixed grill steamed in foil with veggies...delicious. Great views of the bay and a wonderful atmosphere and service. more

I put this restaurant on my list of to do's, as it was rated #1 in Cancun. Me and my fiance are foodies. We make it a point to visit 4 and five star restaurants in our travels simply for the pleasure of eating. This restaurant was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I will start by... more
