Traditional enviroment and honest food, since 1936. On saturday lunch time the two floors were full. Service fantastic.

We were one of the 4 or 5 tables taken mid week in april. But the fish soup and grilled prawns were very good, with a reasonably priced bottle of Rueda. Old fashioned atmosphere, would recommend it if only to get away from endless totillas in other places!
It does not make me happy to report our recent experience at Danubio as having been so incredibly disappointing as this has been one of our favorites for so many years. We arrived in DF on a Saturday night so doubted that we would be able to get in but went by to check anyway. At 8PM the place was...

Food quality and selection, atmosphere, service, tradition. I had been there with my father, many years ago and never expected to find the same ambiance that can take you back to the golden years of downtown Mexico City.
Loved the food, langostinos and sopa verde were excellent, good family ambiance and if you're early you can have a nice quiet meal.
This is an excellent seafood restaurant with a strong Spanish tradition, though you may find other options, like octopus ceviche.
I had the green soup and its flavor was a gentle combination of clams and shrimps taste with the generous freshness of celery.
As Danubio it is close to a lot of office buildings, may get noisy and crowded and...

This very tradicional seafood restaurant is a must when visiting the city centre . A relaxing lunch after all the touristy bits is so welcome , the interior and menu is old mexican businessmans , but on holiday times it gets a bit busy especially Christmas with rowdy office groups . Normally is is more peacefull. I can only add...

I went to Danubio for dinner after attending a performance of the Ballet Folklorico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes a few blocks away. The place was unwelcoming, tired, and lacking any attraction. There were several noisy tables of drunk men cursing away without being told a thing about the several tables with families nearby. I ordered the langostinos based...

Danubio is the best place to eat when one is touring in downtown mexico city. The langostinos and the green soup are superb: don't bother even reading the menu. A nice bottle of Albariño will make it complete. The ambiance is also great as you feel you are walking into one of Mexico City's most traditional restaurants.
No bright young things as waiters. No glossy superficial decor and plastico tables & chairs. Instead a really great meal in old style surroundings where 'middle age' describes most of the staff, the decor and furniture which gives you a great feel for Mexican dining.
We had squid cooked in own ink and giant prawns a la Mexicana. Both dishes...
