Was greeted warmly when we arrived. Very small dining area but cosy feel. However chairs very uncomfortable. My food was nice ( I had a baked potato) but obviously microwaved as hard at the bottom. However the rest was nice. When ordered was asked if I would like some coleslaw with the potato. After agreeing I thought no more about... More

Visited this restaurant with friends and family - the food was mostly good and the beef burger was excellent, although the meat loaf disappointed. However, too many of the portions were very small - example: 4 chicken nuggets & approx. 20 chips £4.50. The menu warned that 5 or more diners would be subject to a service charge of 10%... More

We had a meal here on a Sunday night in March, when it appeared everything else in Axminster was closed! Nice restaurant with friendly service and good quality american cooking. Prices were reasonable, particularly considering the generous portions.

I have enjoyed great food and service in route 66 but this is sadly let down with a poor extraction system in the kitchen. When ever I come away I smell like I have been cooking all day. My advice is take a change of clothes if you are not going home. I hope the cooking smells in the restaurant... More

We visited Route 66 on a Saturday lunchtime, after checking out a few other menus, incl River Cottage. Decided on Route 66 as I had eaten here before a few years ago and remembered it for being tasty and reasonably priced. We were not disappointed. We were a group of 4 adults and a child and there was a lot... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a long and detailed review. These help our business very much for those people unsure about the kind of food we do as an American restaurant. It's not so scary once you've come in and sat down. Gina, the American owner, is always delighted to please nice, well-behaved customers. Actually she'll also... More

Loving the Route 66 menu and staff yet again, sometimes I wonder if we should rent a table there permanently. Gina and Kirk are always very welcoming. On this occasion we were cold and fancied going out for dinner, after getting settled on a table we warmed up with their amazing hot chocolate and munched some of their very yummy... More

My partner & I love this restaurant. We have been countless amounts of times and without fail every single time is great. The food it so tasty and nothing is to much troubled or the staff. This family run business is an asset to the area. Even better than the food & coke floats are the staff. They are so... More

Thank you for your comments. These will be passed on to the staff, which will make them feel pretty good. Just hope they don't ask for a pay rise. Chef. More

My wife is from USA and said the meatloaf is the best she's had (great mash potato and sweetcorn). My 17yr daughter had the route 66 hamburger which she said was delicious. There was plenty of choice for young children, my 9yr old daughter said the reeses milkshake was absolutely outstanding- she liked the puki panda ice cream and was... More

One of the best meals we have had for a while, owner was lovely and the food was authentic and freshly made, no frozen burgers or chicken wings here, freshly made and delicious. Try the shakes, you won't be disappointed.
