The restaurant is a bit difficult to find in the middle of the Tsukjii market but well worth searching out. The food was excellent. We had the tuna plate (different cuts of tuna which taste really different), mixed sashimi and lots of 'a la carte' sushi including red snapper which was still flapping on the counter. You don't get fish... More

I am not an avid fan of sushi, and I'd rather have my seafood cooked rather than raw. But surprisingly, I enjoyed the food in Sushizanmai. All their sushi tasted so fresh, and even if it was a little pricey (for me at least) I can say that it was worth every yen. I especially loved the Salmon Roe Sushi,... More

I really liked the sushi flavor here. It is not a fancy place, very casual, kind of fast food feel to it. But all is fresh and the quality of the seafood is top notch. Even I can say the fish tastes better here than in some really fancy sushi places where maybe the preparation is the star. Here the... More

Went to Tsukiji fish market around 5am as we were a bit jet lagged. Walked by sushizanmai around 7am and it was packed. As we entered the chefs loudly greet you and we were seated at the sushi bar. We love sushi but had not been overly impressed with the sushi we had in Tokyo our first day. This was... More

First approach with sushi in Tokyo...well, the kayten works fine and fast, the cooks make up instantly what you want (from a menu selection though), but I feel so and so. Expected some more, even if the fish is fresh and good enough. It's a matter of art and cookery that left me baffled...nothing special or different from what I'm... More

I stayed at Tsukiji for 4 days and found that I went to the restaurant 3 times ! Though Sushidai and Yamato-sushi offers great quality, I wanna say that Sushi-zanmai should be most enjoyable place with flexible menu and reasonable price. Sushi is really nice and you don't need to line a que when you go late night (open 24... More

We went to the 24hr location and the sushi-go-round location on separate days. Of all the sushi we had on a week-long trip this was the freshest! At the 24h location: We had crab and clam miso soup along with a tuna nigiri combo, yum! At sushi-go-round: We had a little of everything and like a typical American I favor... More

I never skip this place when I'm in Tokyo. Tsukiji has a number of good sushi restaurants but this one always has a line of people waiting to get in. My wife and I went in January and stood in a line outside the rain with a ton of locals, waiting for a seat. Obviously they think it's worth it... More

This is probably the most popular sushi restaurant in Tsukiji and for a good reason: it is always full of people and it is fairly inexpensive (for sushi). Whenever I take the family out for sushi, this restaurant is my first choice. The sushi chefs are playful, the food is good, and the price is right.
