This is such a lovely restaurant. We ate here twice. Both times Teresa managed the floor completely on her own in the most capable and stress free manner. You sit in a small lounge area to contemplate the menu over a glass of wine...very relaxed... Then to the table for a truly beautiful dinner. A priceless gem in a small... More

We have been visiting Steamers every month or so since they opened several years ago - despite it being over 10 miles away... We enjoy the bistro style atmosphere, the staff know us and are very friendly, and the food is straightforward, using good local produce and wonderfully prepared. We have yet to find another restaurant in the area to... More

Just off fore street down a little street on the right as you enter Beer, art gallery on the right corner. Modern seating and decor. The building used to be the old chandery. Prices are very reasonable with 'specials' mid week.

I enjoyed the meal in steamers - it was fab. Really nice interior and the staff were very nice and pleasant. It was quite expensive however - 3 starters, 4 chicken for main, 2 rocky road dessert, 2 glasses of wine and 3 cokes.. £122 ...We would eat out quite a bit at home in Ireland and to compare this,... This was the latest of many visits to Steamers over the years, and once again we we had a lovely evening. Great food, wine and service, definitely number one restaurant in Beer. One observation, less fish on the menu than on previous visits!

During a recent vist to East Devon, staying in Beer, we had an evening meal in Steamers. The restaurant had been recommended by a friend who lives locally.. The welcome and service was very good but the food was disappointing : the scallops for starters were lovely but the mushrooms and chorizo overpowered their natural delicacy and the whole dish... Called in for the first time for a pre booked Sunday Lunch.Very pleasant décor with polite waiting staff.First problem - no beer/lagers on draught - bottled alternatives not really acceptable. The four of us all went through the three courses and found the food very well presented and cooked but - second problem - there just wasn't enough of it.When... More

Not a large restaurant so I would say definitely book in advance! Really good menu, well presented and well cooked. We had very good medallions of beef and pork served with perfectly cooked vegetable. Look out for their home baked mildly spiced bread which was gorgeous!
