  "We stayed at the Iliada Hotel for the last two weeks of August 2011. We had an excellent time, getting to know the owner Nickos and his family very well. We found them extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were very clean and kept that way throughout our stay. The G..."reek nights (usually Weds nights) were brilliant with Nickos manning the barbecue and his daughters dancing round the pool with guests. Brilliant!! The snack bar is open all day for food and drinks and the bar usually stayed open until you we're ready for bed! All in all a very good holiday indeed. We are booking for August next year again. A must see for anyone booking at around end of Aug is the annual "caldera firework display". Do not miss it. Look up on YouTube but doesn't do it justice. You have to be there to appreciate it fully.   "This is such a great place for the price! We have stayed here every year for the last 6 years. We speak Greek so that makes it easier, but the family that owns this pension are wonderful people! He's a farmer there in Santorini (fava) and they have two kids.....great hearted family! It's right b..."y the best beach in Santorini and close to Akrotiri and the Red Beach. You absolutely need a car or some sort of transportation. If you don't care about the beach then stay in Fira. It's about a 20 minute drive to the downtown tourist, shopping area of Fira. But if you are on the island to relax and enjoy life this is the place. The restaurant in front of the hotel, Sabbas (Popeye), has some of the best food on the island. Try to avoid high season if you want a quiet vacation. Wrap a towel around the vent if it's windy and rattling. " More >
