The fireplace was a treat. The kitchenette was stocked with coffee maker (and coffee), mini-frig, 2-burner stove, and nice big microwave. We made dinner there each night, and our picnic lunches each day. The lodge restaurant menu was also good, with interesting offerings. Walking down by the river was lovely, always saw deer. This was a fine location for driving the Wildlife Loop, going down to Hot Springs for the Mammoth Site, or hiking around the lakes. " More >

  "This Holiday Inn Express is one of the newer (maybe the newest?) hotels in Custer. If you're visiting Mount Rushmore or local tourist traps around the area, this hotel makes for a great home base. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was...well, the breakfast was ok. It's your..." traditional hotel breakfast buffet featuring cereal, eggs, juice and bread. Breakfast meats went quick (I'm partially to blame for that) but they're there. Go downstairs to the breakfast hall early to grab a table. It fills up quick. But, hey, it comes with the room and that saves families some cash in the wee morning hours. We hit the indoor pool often and it was never that crowded. Good size pool. Nothing fancy. Clean towels were on hand. Nobody drowned so that's a plus. The service was pretty good. Everybody seemed upbeat. No complaints. It boils down to this: the Holiday Inn Express in Custer wins based on cleanliness, amenities and location. " More >

  "During our 2 weeks camping at Custer State Park Blue Bell campground, we ate at the lodge several times. We ordered something different each time and were never disappointed. Try the Apple Crisp....it's incredible!! Jamie was there each time we went to eat and she was always so kind and considera..."te....made us feel so special.
