Across the street from the don't miss Waimea Canyon, and the seriously hidden (pothole dirt road ride) to the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, Polihale Beach at the beginning of the Na Pali coast. We decided on Waimea Plantation because it offered all we were looking for within our price range: a laid-back part of the island (not Princeville of Poipu, away from the towns and traffic), the sun..."ny side of the island, an oceanfront cottage or house (no condo or big resort hotel room), a pool, and full kitchen. We wanted a retreat from the typical resort, something unique to Kauai'i. The cottage was perfect for us--mostly comfortable, quiet, charming, and unique to the Hawai'ian islands. The kitchen had adequate dishes, cookware, utensils, salt, pepper, coffee, and tea. The bathrooms had basic amenities (soap and shampoo), claw-foot tubs, a walk-in shower (master bathroom), and fluffy large towels. (Beach towels are supplied at the front desk.)
